“I do believe that the Bible is the infallible, authoritative Word of God.”

I see no evidence in Scripture supporting this statement.

Scripture is extremely clear that Jesus is the Word of God. Yes.

But I just can’t find any support for the idea that the *Bible* is “the Word of God.” Any thoughts?

There is a segment of Scripture which must be error free. And there is a portion of the Bible which does have errors, albeit minor one. And you have struck the bell truly: JESUS is The Word of God made flesh Who dwelt among us.

My personal belief is that there is no error where we hear Jesus. There is no error where we hear the ones HIS SPIRIT appointed to speak.

On one hand, you DO believe the Bible, or the scripture, “is extremely clear that Jesus is the Word of God.”

Just the “scriptures,” like John 1:1, 14, which are about Jesus the Word of God, and are indeed extremely clear, but not on other subjects in the Bible?

Sounds like you are extremely picky with the Bible. If the Bible is extremely clear on one subject, it can surely be so about other subjects.

Well there are numerous verses describing "the scripture" or "the words of the prophets" or whatever as the Word of God. But as far as "the Bible," I hearken back to a point I made toward the end...it depends on what you mean by "Bible." And what it actually means to be the Word of God.

May write a follow-up blog on that, thanks.

How about:

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:

the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. (Psalm 19:7-11)
