Never heard of an Apostles Creed so I don’t blame him.

So the left will even get religion if they can use it to trash Trump? Hypocrites.

Trump is a Protestant. I thought that the Apostles Creed was a Catholic prayer because it says “I believe in One Holy Catholic Church.”

The Apostle's Creed that's said in the Catholic Church actually says “I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church...” The word "catholic" isn't capitalized because it's supposed to mean all of Christianity, not just the Catholic Church.

I gotta tell ya......I’ve been to Catholic funerals and Episcopals in my ignorant opinion seem to be very similar. I stand corrected. My point is I didn’t know if I was coming or going.......do I stand, do I repeat or whatever. I was embarrassed to say the least. Melania is Catholic and the President is Presbyterian and I’m not questioning their lack of the Creed and it’s no one’s damn business if they did or not.

Many protestant churches recite it too.

Correct. I am a member of what is considered a reformed presbyterian denomination. The term "Catholic" as used in the Apostles' Creed is properly interpreted as the "universal" church.

Source: AnglicansOnline

Pay attention to the capitalization:

The Apostles' Creed

I BELIEVE in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Probably the single best expression of Christian belief in the form of a brief prayer that there is.

the catholic means universal, not the Catholic Church per se.

The Apostolic Creed is for Catholics and offshoots and it seeks to establish the Church as of the Apostles versus of Jesus Christ. I would never recite it even in a Protestant faith church as it to me is an aberration and a pledge of allegiance to that Church which I refuse to do.
So if Trump refused to recite that I count it as a good thing, Christ teaches us that we are members of the Body of Christ and my allegiance is to Him directly, not a religion.

The word: "catholic" also means wide-ranging, broad, extensive, and varied.
The church of Jesus Christ is all of those things.

Makes sense ... that is the meaning of the word.
