Christian Artist Doesn't Know If Homosexuality Is A Sin
The Daily Wire ^ | 12/5/18 | Matt Walsh

Lauren Daigle, a popular Christian pop artist, gave an absurd answer when asked about homosexuality in an interview. Let's talk about the answer she should have given. Also, let's talk about the strange hostility Daigle encountered from many Christians even before this interview. She made a mistake, but many of her critics are making a mistake, too.

A ton of Christian music is like New Country. Basically pop music and the artist tried to find the audience they could have commercial success in.
The New Country could be sung by Britney Spears or Bruno. And a lot of this Christian music would be simple love songs if you substitute the name “Jesus” for any other random male name. Might as well be singing about their lover.

Kinda odd if you ask me.

Yes, but our thoughts or a physical urge aren’t always under our control. If every hint of desire were a sin of itself, we should all, men and women, be wearing burkhas, and even that wouldn’t deal with imagination (as it doesn’t for Moslems).

We should, nonetheless, always be working with the Holy Spirit to be more holy in our thoughts and desires.

I originally said a feeling is “not necessarily” a sin because we are not always in control of what thoughts or feelings we have. If a thought occurs and you dismiss it, that’s different from the thought’s occurring and your wallowing in it.

You’re not going to be pregnant, contract an STD, or be the victim or perpetrator of “intimate partner violence” if Jesus is your boyfriend.

“What the Master was trying to point out was, keep your heart pure and you won’t have a problem with action. “

No, what he was pointing out was that everyone is a sinner and that clean behavior doesn’t give you salvation. Jesus was saying that when that top shelf babe strolls by in heels, and that unpreventable thought crosses your mind, that that was a sin whether you acted on it or not. He was saying in the verse before that everyone has heard to not commit adultery. He was saying not acting on the impulse doesn’t make you free from sin.
He was saying it isn’t possible to live a sin free life, that it is in our nature.

Short version

The "short version" from Hebrew law does not bind Born Again Christians who accepted Jesus as their Savior.

Reconciling homosexuality with the New Testament Covenant causes questions regarding the acceptance of homosexuality.

Most Christians accept that God may be disgusted with the sin whilst loving the sinner.

Or.. could this be a “shut up and sing” situation and not wanting to potentially alienate?

Well, define “homosexuality”.

If it means being attracted to the same sex but not having sodomy, then it’s not a sin.

But committing sodomy (or any perversion) is.

It’s actually a badly phrased question.

I disagree. I do believe that fallen man has a prediliction to sin, but we are not animals and have choice. Else, why would He have told us to be perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect? If our human nature is driven without control, then we have no choice but to sin. A man can look at a woman and not lust after her, Jesus did it. I have looked upon lots of women and never lusted after them.

“Hebrew law does not bind ...”

The Covenant of Mt. Sinai binds no one except Jewish people.

All others are governed by the Laws of Noah.

Nope. Jesus was explaining that perfection is not possible. That our sinful nature is there, and that is why he was here.
And the choice is in our acts, but sin lives in your thoughts whether you act on them or not.
He was expressly saying that man cannot live up to God’s standards.

If you could be perfect as your father in heaven is, some people would not need a redeemer.

According to the latest research by the Barna Group, most people in the U.S. still claim to be Christian yet a very small number actually believe the Bible to be true. If people don’t get their beliefs from God’s word about who Jesus is, where do their ideas come from?

It's a shame.

She actually has one of my favorite interpretations of a glorious hymn.

Cowardly answer. Of course it is. It’s a sin like many other things are a sin. One who doesn’t repent of their sins won’t be saved.
