Swiss Diocese Rebukes Neighboring Bishop for Linking Clergy Abuse Crisis to Homosexuality

SWITZERLAND, August 28, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – The Swiss Diocese of St. Gallen posted on its official Facebook page a comment distancing itself from Bishop Marian Eleganti, who recently noted that homosexuality is the root cause of the sex abuse crisis.

Bishop Eleganti had referred the Pennsylvania grand jury report when he made these comments in an August 22 interview with EWTN Germany while in Ireland for the World Meeting of Families.

“The scandal of abuse shows clearly, it is related to homosexuality,” he said. “90% [of the abuse cases] are in direct connection with a homosexual inclination.”

The bishop also pointed out that most of the recently-revealed victims “were not children, they were 16 to 17 years old,” “they were seminarians,” and that “it would be blind to deny that we do have here a problem in the Church with homosexuality and that homosexuality plays here a role.”

Bishop Eleganti is auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Chur, Switzerland, and the diocese which now publicly criticizes him lies to the north of his diocese, on Lake Constance.

This Diocese of St. Gallen has now issued an unsigned statement on its Facebook page.

Apparently, 90% correlation isn’t enough to attribute causation.

And honestly whether it’s related to abuse or not, clergy living double lives are devastating to the Church’s witness.

When 2% of the population commits 90% of the crimes, some people would conclude that the two are linked. Apparently reaching such a conclusion is bigoted.

Actually pedophilia is not necessary homosexual in nature. Mant peds recoil at sex with a same sex adult. The reality in the Church today is the rampant Sexual activity between priests in their 40s and 50s and 20 something seminarians. McCarrick used the seminary at Seton Hall like a harem. Very Weinstein like, only homosexual in nature. That behavior can only be described as homosexual and the LBGTQWERYY Community does not like that.

Just to be clear, we have to define categories and boundaries. Not that hard: Not all pedophiles are homosexual. Not all homosexuals are pedophiles. While pedophiles are by definition abusers, not all homosexuals are abusers.

Now: a priest who sexually abuses a sexually mature teen or seminarian is a homosexual predator, (known as a “chicken hawk,”) but he is not a pedophile. A priest who abuses prepubertal children is a pedophile, and may abuse girls as well as boys. He is not necessarily a homosexual.

The majority of abuser priests are homosexuals, not pedophiles, but the media seeks to protect predator homosexuals by focusing on the pedophile minority. Both pedophiles and homosexual predators are evil and need to be remanded to the legal system for adjudication.
