Mrs. Don-o's Letter to Parish Clergy (about sex abuse) with video
Conscience of a Catechist | August 21, 2018 | Mrs Don-o

Posted on 08/21/2018 2:06:09 PM PDT by Mrs. Don-o

This was addressed to the priests and deacons in my parish.

Dear Fathers,

Here is a video of a good homily by Fr. John Lankeit of the Diocese of Phoenix. It brought tears to my eyes --- anyway I thought you would find it valuable. I have it wound up to the place where the sermon starts, at 18.58

Sermon of Fr. John Lankeit, Diocese of Phoenix

We have seen a lot in the news about various bishops talking about new programs, policies, protocols, yadda-yadda but many of us are thinking what we need first is to ponder Sin, Judgment, Atonement. Some parishioners are saying it would be good to have an Hour of Reparation or Holy Hour on the theme of Sin, Penance, Atonement.

We must beg to be saved from an evil generation.

The Prophets in ther Daily Readings have been coming down hard on that lately.

If this could be done, I believe it would serve a heartfelt need.

Sincerely in Christ,

[signed]

Amen to that.

There is a passage of scripture that says, do not neglect the fellowship of believers. Hebrews 10:26.

One Priest I knew made a blasphemous comment about how “hung” Jesus was on the Cross during his homily.

And did the congregation scream "BLASPHEMY!!!!", turn their backs on him, and depart?

No?

Didn't think so ... and that's part of our problem.

I am a Convert, so am immune to something I see in many cradle Catholics which is a see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil about a Priest.

In my 24 years as a Catholic, I am sure I spent a third of it confronting Priests who have far strayed from Catholic teaching, mocking and blaspheming Christ, the Eucharist, Saints, endangering young children with the now discarded “Growing in Love” sex ed program which had a list of vocabulary words for 7 year olds to include dildo, and fisting.

I have watched a woman whose son committed suicide after being raped by a Priest, publicly derided, and accused as a liar, and scandal monger by the Archdiocese.

Had a Priest pause during the consecration to call out to me, “You don’t have to kneel for the Consecration” to which I shouted back, “I can lay prostrate on the floor if you prefer.”

Seen a Priest who has a girlfriend living in the rectory with him for years, and everyone just ignores all of it.
That is just a small glimpse.

Finally, you find a Parish which embraces authentic Catholic teaching, and watch the Archdiocese try to destroy it, the Priest, the Deacon, the Parishioners through lies, false accusations, and ecclesial power.

I have seen more than one Parish where the Priest admitted to a sexual relationship with a minor, was relieved of his duties, (to which Parishioners almost unanimously signed petitions demanding his reinstatement), or the more common shuffled off to an unsuspecting Parish
