The last couple of I have seen this hashish, #NotMyPope. Even I have used it often in just anger when Pope Francis comes out with a new position teaching for the Church. Most recent is death penalty issue. Is that hashtag a good way to protest or not as a Catholic? Thank you and God Bless.
I prefer #FireFrancis and #BringBackBenedict.
Not for me. I don’t want to advertise my disfavor of our Pope too widely. The atheists will become that much more smug.
This is ‘A Family Problem’. It won’t last forever.
I think #NotmyPope is problematic. First, he IS the Pope, whether we like it or not. Second, uneducated types may infer that you are a sedevacantist. Third, it doesn't have any information-content...while unlikely, maybe people would think you want him to go ALL-IN on female priests etc...some people seem to think he has a ways still to go.
Perhaps #RespectTradition or #StopWingingIt or even #PrayforTHISPope - something that gets across your point while still giving the respect we are supposed to render - would do a better job. Good luck.
I agree also. He is our pope and has the authority granted that position by the Holy Trinity. It is God’s will and in Him I trust. Regardless of the errors of men who are human, Christ is ever present in His church. How about #JesusisKIng #Heisthebreadoflife.
Understand the sentiment, but also would agree that he is indeed our pope. We have survived slightly worse and much worse popes.
If there is any Independent investigation into the McCarrick / Seminary abuse scandals and the $$Millions spent on the cover up, Francis should be fired. There is more news almost every day that shows the Vatican knew about “Uncle Ted” and his “problem” with young Seminarians.
It’s just as silly as saying #NotMyPresident.
I recently found this and it gave me so much peace.
Jeremiah, chapter 23
A Just Shepherd.
1
a Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the flock of my pastureoracle of the LORD.
2
Therefore, thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, against the shepherds who shepherd my people: You have scattered my sheep and driven them away. You have not cared for them, but I will take care to punish your evil deeds.
3
I myself will gather the remnant of my flock from all the lands to which I have banished them and bring them back to their folds; there they shall be fruitful and multiply.
4
I will raise up shepherds for them who will shepherd them so that they need no longer fear or be terrified; none shall be missingoracle of the LORD.d
We need to do better at forgiveness.
Practicing Catholic for 54 years here. All for it as the guy is a complete hypocrite imo. When will he demand his home country of Argentina opens its border to migrants and the people of Venezuela???
I would much rather have a Borgia Pope that lived a scandalous life, than one who spreads confusion about the faith.
Thank-you for responses and God Bless.
Correction for vanity opening paragraph: hashtag.
No I don’t think the # is needed , just post the scripture that contradicts what he is trying to instill . I DO NOT understand this man and I feel he is doing a disservice to the Catholic followers . God’s word never changes . Glory to God.
I usually just stop what I’m doing and pray a rosary for his conversion. I really don’t think a hash tag is efficacious because God alone can correct him in any meaningful way.
Amen. For God’s glory, better to us the scriptures.
I've given reasons elsewhere on FR about why I think Pope Francis may not be the valid pope. HERE (LINK)
These reasons are possible, but I don't think they are certain or even solidly probable.
Emeritus Bishop of Corpus Christi Rene Gracida (age 95) -- statement here, has published why he thinks Pope Francis was invalidly elected and therefor not pope. Other than Gracida, there is nobody else in the hierarchy, retired or active, who has come forward with any doubts that Pope Francis is indeed pope.
Not even one Cardinal in the 2013 Conclave who might have something against Francis, for instance who did not vote for him and has been pushed around or otherwise insulted or humiliated by him, has voiced such a doubt.
That doesn't count for "everything" but it counts for a lot.
So I wouldn't use that hashtag.
A better one might be something like, "We Need a Catholic Pope"
This kind is not driven out except by prayer and fasting.
But thanks to social media, even family feuds get the glaring spotlight.
