A Parish Priest: Tradition must be completely legitimized in order to wipe out the confusion which now reigns supreme
Think carefully about that. Mary is in heaven. Can a blessed soul in heaven will something contrary to what God wants? (The technical term for "willing something contrary to what God wants" is "sin," BTW.)
Presumption on your part that 1) we are to pray to Mary and 2) she can hear our prayers.
This presupposes she can hear, understanding and resolve every prayer request of every Roman Catholic.
If every Roman Catholic, all 1.2 billion that Rome claims, offered just one prayer a day to Mary, that's 13,889 prayers a second she has to hear, understand and answer.
This puts her on the same level as the Holy Spirit and Jesus and the Father.
In Romans 8 Paul writes about the ability of the Holy Spirit and how the Spirit hears our prayers, searches our hearts and makes intercession for us. There is NO mention of Mary being able to do this. Nor does John mention Mary in Revelation in any capacity.
This is why Christians say Rome has deified Mary....she has to have goddess like abilities to do what Rome claims.
This is one of the reasons Christianity rejects the Roman Catholic claims regarding Mary. They stand in contradiction of the New Testament which does not change
******************
Scripture does not change.....Roman Catholic "tradition" , has, does and will change.
Good one!
My son just started dating a Catholic girl. We are praying that she can be lead away from the Catholic Church and into our bible church. We wonder how she feels about the bible.
As Saint Pio used to say, “Pray, hope and don’t worry.”
What about when He says "Who is my mother? Anyone who hears the word and believes is my mother"
Or when someone said "Blessed are the boobs that nursed you" and He said "Blessed rather..."
Is it rational to disregard such doctrine as to her proper position in the Church?
What did Christ say to St. John about, "Behold, My Mother..."?
What did Christ say to St. John about, "Behold, My Mother..."?
Yes...and if you understood the Greek behind this you'd understand this was a personal event only between Jesus, John, and Mary.
John was to take Mary into his home....only his home.
Jesus is not giving Mary to everyone.
It would be best for them to not be unequally yoked and there is not much common ground between the RCC and a fundamentalist.
But I do think, and often point out, that if both were is Muslim prisons, both would be beheaded for being "Christians".
“Once for all”.
There is no need for the mass:
NASB Hebrews 10:
10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
I also pray for your son that he converts to Catholicism and you may soon follow him.
And it is this ONE SACRIFICE that is presented at the Mass, just as our Lord said, "Do this in memory of me." It is false to think that Catholics are calling for a new or different sacrifice at the Mass.
Can't stop what we have never done. Peace.
Ummm....in this image this is a hindu worshiping one of their gods.
Yet, Roman Catholicism would have us believe this is not worshiping Mary.
And it is this ONE SACRIFICE that is presented at the Mass, just as our Lord said, "Do this in memory of me." It is false to think that Catholics are calling for a new or different sacrifice at the Mass.
Roman Catholic priest, John O'Brien, writing in the Faith of Millions compared to Hebrews.
The contradictions of how a priest describes the Mass with the inspired text of Hebrews is glaring.
The Roman Catholic Mass stands in contradiction of the New Testament.
John O' Brien, Roman Catholic Priest in the Faith of Millions. | Hebrews 9:24-28 | Hebrews 10:11-13 |
When the priest pronounces the tremendous words of consecration, he reaches up into the heavens, brings Christ down from His throne, and places Him upon our altar to be offered up again as the Victim for the sins of man. It is a power greater than that of monarchs and emperors: it is greater than that of saints and angels, greater than that of Seraphim and Cherubim. Indeed it is greater even than the power of the Virgin Mary. While the Blessed Virgin was the human agency by which Christ became incarnate a single time, the priest brings Christ down from heaven, and renders Him present on our altar as the eternal Victim for the sins of mannot once but a thousand times! The priest speaks and lo! Christ, the eternal and omnipotent God, bows His head in humble obedience to the priests command. |
24For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own. 26Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, 28so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. |
Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; 12but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, 13waiting from that time onward UNTIL HIS ENEMIES BE MADE A FOOTSTOOL FOR HIS FEET. 14For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. |
Please do not try to impute to those whom you do not know. To continue with the charge that "Catholics worship Mary" after being presented with clear statements to the contrary is a serious violation of the Commandment against bearing false witness. I AM ONE CATHOLIC WHO KNEELS TO PRAY AND I TELL YOU THAT I DO NOT WORSHIP MARY!
Same sacrifice presented a thousand times. Are you interested in actual Catholic teaching or just winning cheap debating points against false straw men?
Is that Marine depending upon the person they’re remembering for their salvation??? Keep trying.
Nope. A Roman Catholic priest says Jesus is brought down from Heaven, not once, but a thousand times and rendered present on the altar.
Unless you're a Roman Catholic priest, O'brien trumps your opinion.
Jesus died ONCE for our sins and He does not come down from Heaven at the command of a RC priest.
