New York City, N.Y., May 22, 2018 / 08:30 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- The Archbishop of New York said Tuesday that while some recent comments about homosexuality attributed to Pope Francis are orthodox teaching, the pope's reported remarks could require clarification.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan affirmed the popes recent affirmation of Gods love for a gay man with whom the pontiff visited in Rome, saying: Jesus would have said that, and so would I. Thats conservative, traditional, Catholic, orthodox teaching. The Catechism insists on that.
While any sexual expression outside of a man and woman in marriage is contrary to God's purpose, so is not treating anyone, including a gay person, with anything less than dignity and respect, Dolan added, speaking May 22 during his weekly radio show on Sirius XMs The Catholic Channel.
What he says is beautiful, dont you think? Dolan asked.
The remarks were a response to questions about Juan Carlos Cruz, a Chilean victim of sexual abuser Fr. Fernando Karadima, who told the Spanish newspaper El Pais on Friday that Pope Francis told him that it did not matter that he was gay.
He told me Juan Carlos, that you are gay does not matter. God made you like that and he loves you like that and I do not care. The Pope loves you as you are, you have to be happy with who you are," Cruz recalled.
Asked about the most controversial aspect of the Holy Fathers remarks, regarding whether God wills that someone experience same sex attraction, Dolan was circumspect, citing ongoing debate among professional circles.
Is one born that way, or is it - is it nature or nurture?... I don't think the Holy Father would feel competent to speak on that.

Why the need to clarify “beautiful” remarks?
Sorry, but the “beauty” of anal intercourse is just too elusive.
Ah, Dope Frank has formally canonized the rectal prolapse.
He already spoke on it, you idiot. That's the problem!
For someone who obsesses with painting homosexuality in a positive light as much as he does, it makes me wonder if he is as queer as obama.
God loves Ted Bundy, Pedophiles, Pol Pot and Ghengis Khan “just as they are”. The Almighty just wants then to “be themselves”.
*gets choked up* Wow, sometimes my knack for beautiful statements amazes even me. But please don’t ask me to clarify what might ruin the vague beauty of my pontificating.
The popester strikes again. This clown pope is an utter buffoon. Has he ever read the Bible?
And Cardinal Dolan is nothing but a sock-puppet for the Deep State.
The next step is pride parades for murderers and adulterers if they keep going in this direction.
God made him like thst? Not the sexual abuse by a priest?
I wish I was there to hand you a tissue. And I thought that the Royal wedding was emotional!
Is he setting the stage for the church to endorse homosexual marriage?
One man goes swimming in a beautiful mountain lake of the purest water.
Another man goes swimming in a vat of toxic waste.
Pretemding that both actions are the same is evil.
Apparently, some of the leaders of the Church are insane. God save us from this corrupt generation.
They want so badly for homosexuality to be genetic. It is their Holy Grail, because then, instead of being a sexual peccadillo, it becomes a civil rights issue.
They want that so badly they will openly lie about it. And this person, The Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and Pope Francis, instead of helping them, are damning them to Hell.
Sad.
Or a minister?
There is more abuse in protestant and other non-Catholic churches than in the Catholic Church.
And more even in schools.
And more even in families.
The Church deep state?
I wonder what the Pope actually said. I assume he knows that man is homosexual because of his child sexual abuse by a priest. He may have said G-d loves him, but I wonder if he actually said G-d made him that way. I would think he’d be careful with what he said, because the Church is responsible for his sin.
Also, part of me wonders if he’s pulling a Trump: making homos think they’re accepted, so they’ll actually go to Church.
And have you heard a denial?
Guess what? You won’t.
