No.
It was founded as a place where you could practice whatever (Christian or Jewish) brand of religion you pleased.
I don't think anybody is saying that. More like denominations are a man made thing. Of course we should believe in Christ as our Savior. But the Catholic thing . . not so much.
Are you saying that you don’t believe that Christ founded the Catholic Church?
Yes. That is what I am saying.
How Old Is Your Church?
If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex- monk of the Catholic Church, in the year 1517.
If you belong to the Church of England, your religion was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to remarry.
If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560.
If you are a Protestant Episcopalian, your religion was an offshoot of the Church of England founded by Samuel Seabury in the American colonies in the 17th century.
If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582.
If you are a Methodist, your religion was launched by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1744.
If you are a Unitarian, Theophilus Lindley founded your church in London in 1774.
If you are a Mormon (Latter Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your religion in Palmyra, N.Y., in 1829.
If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1605.
If you are of the Dutch Reformed church, you recognize Michaelis Jones as founder, because he originated your religion in New York in 1628.
If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865.
If you are a Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your religion was born and to Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy as its founder.
If you belong to one of the religious organizations known as ‘Church of the Nazarene,” “Pentecostal Gospel.” “Holiness Church,” “Pilgrim Holiness Church,” “Jehovah’s Witnesses,” your religion is one of the hundreds of new sects founded by men within the past century.
If you are Catholic, you know that your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ the Son of God, and it is still the same Church.
Frankly, it is hard to believe that in most states, the % of Jews rounds down to zero. And that CA is so low on the list of Jewish pop states. That could be a statistic trick as the sample size is not that great and they are focusing only on the % of state population and not straight out numbers. Because this city is quite Jewish indeed.
I am Judeo-Christian which means the Jewish foundation is thousands of years older than what you claim your Churchs origins. So if the measurement is longevity, I win . . you lose. Jesus was a Jew. So were all of the Disciples. They never backed away from that. But Jesus fulfilled the prophecies and requirements that made Him the Sacrificial Lamb. HE is the center of attention. He is the focus. Not your denomination. He was/is the Man we are all meant to be. He lived His life as we are all meant to live it, in our own ways of course.
No, you’re think of Maryland.
Christ is the focus in the Catholic Church. Attend a Mass and find out.
Not what I am saying.
Catholicism is not a denomination.
Do you always comment without reading the article?
Read it.
So you don't look so foolish next time.
Bam!
Do you always make such leaps of illogic?
You go from claiming the Catholic religion is the One True Church to accusing him of not believing in the incarnation as a result?
Are you just trying to start a fight or something?
If you can find Catholic in this article, please let me know.

Sure it is. Just like any religious organization.
It's not the One True Church, nor is it THE church that Christ founded.
Jesus never said He was going to FOUND a church but BUILD one.
Nor can Catholicism definitively trace its roots back to Pentecost.
No, it's not *Protestant*.
It's CHRISTIAN.
My identity is Christ and being IN Christ.
The local church I attend for worship, fellowship, and ministering is of no consequence as long as it teaches salvation by grace through faith in Christ, not of works so that no man may boast, and recognizes the authority of Scripture and teaches out of IT.
Irrelevant.
Longevity is meaningless.
