Give reformed a shot. That would be the John MacArthur, John Piper, RC Sproul, Mark Devers, Mike McKinley variety. They don’t mess around.

Presbyterian is a tough category cause you have the extreme lib ones ordaining lesbians and then the PCAs and etc that you mention.
I was torn between hoping to see a decline in the category and rooting for them!
Would rather see it broken into mainline and conservative. I know our conservative denim is up 50 percent in the last thirty years or so.
>>Presbyterian is a tough category cause you have the extreme lib ones ordaining lesbians and then the PCAs and etc that you mention.
I know. That’s why I always mention that I’m a PCA Presbyterian, not the PCUSA non-confessing, woman-ordaining kind of Presbyterian.
Sounds like a plan. When you find the right place let us know.
Not so much rare as ignored. FTR I too swam the Bosporus. It will be twelve years this Great and Holy Saturday. There are quite a few of us.
That one made me laugh.
That would get me in trouble.
My church is in a "modern" building, and about a year ago, they installed two large screen TV's on either side of the altar. Any semblance of the sacred and contemplative atmosphere is gone.
Between the scandals, the Pope, and Cardinal Dolan (who would make a fine back-slapping good ole' boy politician) I am done with the Catholic Church Inc.
When we were kids, we went home to a big early dinner. My husband’s family went to the Grandparents’ house, where they had cooked a roast and all the sides.
Oh, yes - invitations to go to family and/or friends house after meeting for a meal was a constant!
Many people had a lot more ‘connection’ back then.
“Many people had a lot more connection back then.”

Yup. The real “Facebook”. You see people’s faces, have real conversations and just enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon with them. Unless you got talked into a game of ping pong, heh!
I understand how you feel but I still urge you to stay and join with other faithful Catholics who are still fighting. Join another parish and let you bishop know why. The Church will only be saved by the laity who remain and defend the faith. Find a traditional Latin Mass where your faith will only be strengthened and not betrayed. In the Army we had a saying: If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.
Yep - started Catholic and lapsed but tried several “flavors” over the years and 16 years ago went non-denominational and find it perfect.
I know of quite a few people who have gone from Catholic to Eastern Orthodox. This is only an observation - not a set of statistics - but it must count for something. Most congregations of the Orthodox churches are aware of new members. Some are even somewhat puzzled by it, as they can be (I say with affection) rather parochial in outlook, rather close to their ethnic communities.
By banning bump stocks? I don't think so. And I don't think caving to the gun control lobby will make them love him either.
