False Teacher Rob Bell Claims: ‘Jesus Would Be Mortified Someone Started a Religion in His Name’
Christian News Net ^ | 2/11/18 | Heather Clark

A new documentary called “The Heretic,” which centers on false teacher Rob Bell, is set to be released on March 1, and features a number of statements that are already raising concern, such as, “The Bible has caused so much damage” and “Jesus would be absolutely mortified that someone started a religion in His name.”

Bell explained in a Facebook post on Feb. 1 that he had been approached by filmmaker Andrew Morgan about creating a film surrounding his work and controversial views, which many decry as being apostate and heretical.

“A few years ago, the filmmaker Andrew Morgan approached Kristen and I about making a documentary film about my work. We have great respect for Andrew, so we said yes, and he began filming tours and RobCasts and events and interviews,” he outlined. “I can’t imagine just how much footage he captured. The result is a new film that he is preparing to release. It’s called ‘The Heretic.'”

Noting that Bell has “raised a lot of eyebrows” among Christians, the production features clips from both those opposed to Bell and those in favor of him, from Franklin Graham, who forthrightly called Bell a “heretic,” to Carlton Pearson, who praised the former “pastor” of Mars Hill in Michigan as being a “paradigm shifter.”

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me."

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

This article is partly correct.

Yeshua did not start any new “religion.”

He restored the one that began at the first shavuot at Mount Sinai. The Pharisees had corrupted the Covenant worship with their own false commandments and traditions, and he ripped those false commandments out by their roots and took them to the cross.

He “built” (expanded greatly) his ancient Kehillah upon his own Earthly ministry.

But His name wasn't Christ. Christ is His mission, Redeemer.

I think, although I'm not 100% sure, that His name His name would be Yeshua bar Yossef or Yosep.

Bell might want to review his notes. /s

Closer than the “churches,” anyway.

Judaism is just as man made as the churches we have today.

It is based not on the covenant, but on the Pharisees own false commandments. Yeshua demolished what Judaism had become through his miracles, each of which destroyed one of the more grevious of the Takanot.

The “christianity” that Eusebius cereated in the 4th century was just another man made farce with its creeds and other non-scriptural gibberish.

Cristos was the sungod, not our Savior!

Yeshua is Messiach, not cristos.

I do get that point, but don’t you think Bell means something else? The movie about him is going to be called, “The Heretic,” and another quote from him mentioned in the article is, “The Bible has caused so much damage.”

He obviously finds it titillating and humerous to be able to utter inane drivel that causes “raised eyebrows”. But neither God, nor His Son, Second Person of the Trinity, are amused. As he will discover someday soon, when it’s eternally too late to repent and fly right.

He didn’t “restore” the old covenant...he made a new one as Hebrews 12 indicates. Yeshua was chief priest after the order of Melchizidek not after the order of Aaaron. Hebrews 12:18-24

“18For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 19And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: 20(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: 21And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

22But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.”

Mount Zion is our home not Sinai. You are, flat on the face of it, and in width and depth,...in error! And I say so in the company of these other Freepers of which your tag line states...”Not as smart as I(YOU!) hoped they’ed be”

Somebody ought to hit the abuse button just for that tag line alone; it sure reveals an unkind, unjust, unloving spirit on your part....much like the fire and gloom of Mount Sinai...I’m sure if anything or anyone touched it...you’d claim the right to throw the first killing dart!

I’ve always believed that Jesus was trying to reform Judaism, not start a new religion.

Jesus is a Baptist. :)

Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Luke 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

NONSENSE !!!!

As the NT apostles all confirm, the new covenant is the old covenant fulfilled in sinless blood!

There is no change in the covenant declaresd in the word.

Yehova’s Roman Generals made the change by removing the temple that was no longer required after the perfect sacrifice.

There is some evidence to suggest that the term “Christian” was meant as a derogatory term. Could be, and if so, I think Jesus would be pleased that Christianity has grown and spread and done so much to spread His message. His parables always have the unexpected ending - so I think he would like the twist of the terms usage.

Our pastor talks about Jesus’ “judo”. Using the force of the attack of His enemy and turning it about to defeat His enemy. With the crucifixion, death and burial all being needed, and which Jesus turns it into the ultimate victory.

Oh I’m sure the Son of God knows who he himself is and knows the hearts of his children..whether there is a question of names or not....the Torah lists dozens of equally valid names anyway...such as “Wonderful”....or how about “Counsellor”, or how about “the mighty God” or how about “the prince of peace”

Christos in greek simply means “anointed”. Apollo was the Greek sun god . You can’t even get your mythology correct! You prefer the Hebrew name for the Son of the Most High God...that is fine with me. Some days I like just calling him...”Wonderful!”...for that is his name as well!

So you blasphemously ignore scripture as plain as daylight is from night...and you call Hebrews 12 nonsense!

Just keep throwing those killing darts....Saul!

I don't ignore scripture, I study it and obey it.

All scripture must agree.

If your personal interpretation causes disagreement, it is pure error. That is what happens with your erroneous interpretatiion of Hebrews 12.

Read John's first epistle. It is the plainest epistle in the Bible.

It tells us that the transgression of Torah is the definition of sin. So, if you are transgressing Torah, you are living in sin.

1John:2
[1] My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
[2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
[3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
[4]He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
[5] But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
[6] He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
[7] Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
[8] Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
[9] He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
[10] He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
[11] But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

Torah is not abolished, it is tightened! Not just our actions must comply, but also our inermost thoughts.

If we hate, we are guilty of the entire law.

Keep on breaking the word into convenient sound bites that turn the word on its head, it has to work, right?

.

Hey...you..Saul! Your tag line concerning your fellow freepers reveals what your heart is truly like. Bang those cymbals and blow those tin horns, your words ring hollow! Your tag line “Freepers: Not as smart as I hoped they’d be” reveals you to be a triumphalist Judaizing bigot!

Get off the Hebrew covenant crap for awhile and go find some real love! Go to Mount Zion and seek the heart of the true shepherd...leave the judgments of Sinai for the truly unrepentant!

As long as you leave that tag line up...your words on this forum are worthless!

So far, only four people have, in the last 12 years or so.
