We People of Conservative Ideals have suffered a lot of Bitter disappointment in the last few years. One of the unfortunate results of this disappointment is that we often raise up individuals to be our "Champion" or leader. We lionize these people, and then when they fail us, we are left bitter and angry.This is a very human reaction, and quite understandable under the present circumstances. However, while it is good to support leaders who espouse our ideas, and to work for them, we must never put all our trust and confidence in any human being. Not only does it damage US when they fail (and they WILL!), but it puts an unfair burden upon the object of our "worship". He or She is NOT God, and is not the answer to all our problems! When that person fails, they also do not deserve the hatred and fury that often follows. Nevertheless, we rejoice when righteous leadership is in power, and are instructed to pray for that person. Right now we are very blessed to have a President who agrees with most of our ideals. Let us keep him, his family, and his staff in constant prayer!

God ALONE is Our Champion, Our Judge, Our King, and Our God.

We pray for the Repentance, Restoration, and Renewal of Our Beloved Nation.

Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Ancient Greek Myth of the Hero has come down to us in the form of The "Superhero". The only problem is that "Superheros" seem to be the ONLY subject matter being promoted these days in literature and film. There are so many Superheroes that the producers of the industry have to keep coming up with new ones, or some new gimmick to put an upgrade on the ancient theme. The latest is a mythical African Superhero who is king of a mythical African kingdom, and drips with political correctness right down to its Title Character, named after a 1960's era Left-Wing radical group. (sigh).

What a number of these new superheroes leave out is the Ancient Greek Hero's "Tragic Flaw" which brings about their destruction. With Hercules it was his Temper, and with several others it was "Hubris". This is in perfect harmony with the Biblical Proverb that "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before the Fall." (my paraphrase). Batman had his angst, and Superman had his Kryptonite. Some of the latest "superheroes" however, struggle with TOO MUCH Angst, hubris, indecision, and "issues", while others are just too darn "perfect" for anyone to really care about! A true hero is strong, but compassionate, sensitive but courageous, vulnerable yet willing to risk all for the sake of righteousness.

All these Wonderful Names of God that we have been looking at seem to contrast with each other on occasion. And yet, they make sense. The Only REAL Hero is one without the "feet of clay", or the "Tragic Flaw" that brings the hero crashing to the ground. That is the God Who is "My Defense".

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

The Only REAL Hero is one without the "feet of clay", or the "Tragic Flaw" that brings the hero crashing to the ground.

Yikes, especially in my seeing this shortly after my post about the dreams [that I made on the portrait thread].

That must have been the real hero then. The only one left from the crash of the red plane, who could then battle the serpent. He came through without a scratch.

Coincidence that Superman - the Man of Steel - was created about that time standing for Truth, Justice, and the American way. And he had his flaw - kryptonite.

If you REALLY want to see something wild & crazy, sit down with Superman and a STRONG’S Exhaustive Concordance of the KJV.

Here are just a few examples of the made-up words in Superman, and what they mean in Hebrew or Greek (The languages of the New Testament)

Krypton (Superman’s home planet)(Gr) The Secret Place (We get the words “crypt” and “cryptic”

Jor-El (Superman’s Father) (Hebrew) Archer-of God

Kal-El (Superman’s real name) Man of God

Smallville (can anything good come out of Smallville? LOL)

Metropolis (Gr) The Great (or big) City

Lex Luther (Lex is Latin for “The Law” and “Luther” is the name of someone who was an important figure in Christian history, especially with regard to the argument about “Law vs. Grace”

Lois and Lana Lane (Superman had a history of falling in love with ladies whose initials were “L.L.” Of course, “El” means “God” in Hebrew.

“Lois” is derived from the French “Aloysius” which means “Warrior”. It is also the root for the names Louis, Louise, Lou, and Louanne.

These are just memories from 37 years ago when I checked it out, and it was when I had a LOT of time on my hands. hahaha

Now, I truly don’t believe the creator of Superman had any of this in mind, but it is funny how it panned out.

As Superman himself would exclaim, “HOW IRONIC!” LOL.

((((Just yesterday, I was having a very important discussion with my 4-year old grand nephew William. William LOVES Superman, so we discussed how important it was for Ma and Pa Kent to teach Superboy RIGHT FROM WRONG at a very early age, and give him a strong moral compass so that he would always use his powers for good and not evil. William nodded his head very gravely and said, “You’re RIGHT, Auntie!”)))

I don’t think that the creator of the Superman Comic Book Character had any idea about the meanings of the names he made up for his characters and places. But...as we have often explored in in this series, there are many deep things going on that we have NO idea about, and that there are no “coincidences”.

Interesting Superman masked his powers as humble Clark Kent. And everyone around him did not know who he was—except his adopted folks.

And the time the series was created, the Bible was more well known and accepted in our society. Perhaps, much of the inspiration came unconsciously from a biblical worldview.
