Parish-Priest, I Dont Say the Creed Because I Do Not Believe in It
The Nicene Creed is a prayer that sums up everything one must believe to
O be a Catholic Christian.
If a Catholic priest doesn’t believe it he should quit since he is not a Catholic and is only holding onto his paying job.
Which creed?
You know, this was exactly why the Creed was put together in the first place, so you would know who was not a Christian, just pretending to be one.
Luke 8:25
And he said to them: Where is your faith? Who being afraid, wondered, saying one to another: Who is this, (think you), that he commandeth both the winds and the sea, and they obey him?
Faith is handy. A shame that this guy has none.
If you don’t know which Creed is recited during Mass, you shouldn’t post on catholic caucused threads.
Have it your way.
Where to start? First, it’s totally understandable that anyone, even priests, ministers, etc., have doubts and questions about their faith. Faith is hard, and I personally think that each crisis of faith is an opportunity for spiritual growth. That said, in my opinion, a priest has an obligation to not let his personal doubts cloud his message to those listening to his homily - in the same way that a father who is worried about his job and finances needs to appear strong to his family. Second, in my opinion, there is a reason Christ taught with parables. Parables allow for communication of a fundamental truth, without the constraint of details. We might not all agree on the details, but we can agree on the fundamental truths. This priest, in my opinion, would do better to get beyond whatever specific in the Creed he has doubts about, and to embrace the more central truth about God’s love, Christ’s innocence and sacrifice, and the central Christian message.
I never understood why anyone such as professors, theologians, priests and pastors would devote their time to learning something if they didn’t believe it. I guess they’re in it for the easy money and being used by the enemy to try to cast doubts among true believers.
If he had a real bishop over him, he would be suspended from ministry immediately.
Actually, Christ explained why he taught in parables. It was so those who had the gift of faith would understand what He was saying, while those parables would be meaningless to those who did not.
This moron has no business being a Catholic priest. In fact, one of the sobering realities of today is that the entire Catholic Church is filled with priests, bishops and cardinals who aren't even Catholic.
Third Day Lyrics
“Creed”
I believe in God the Father,
Almighty Maker of heaven and Maker of earth,
And in Jesus Christ
His only begotten son our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirt,
born of the virgin Mary.
Suffered under Pontius Pilot
where he was crucified dead and buried.
[Chorus:]
And I believe what I believe in
is what makes me what I am.
And I did not make it,
no it is making me
It is the very truth of God
and not the invention of any man.
I believe that He who suffered
was crucified, buried and dead.
He descended into hell
and on the third day He rose again.
He ascended into heaven
where He sits at God’s mighty right hand.
I believe that He’s returning to judge
the quick and the dead of the sons of men.
I believe it, I believe it. I believe it.
I believe it, I believe it. I believe it.
I believe in God the Father,
Almighty Maker of Heaven and Maker of earth
And in Jesus Christ His
only begotten Son our Lord.
I believe int the Holy Spirit,
one Holy Church
The communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sin
I believe in the resurrection
I believe in a life that never ends.

“It was so those who had the gift of faith would understand what He was saying, while those parables would be meaningless to those who did not.”
Faith is a possibility for all of us, and often comes at different points in life. Christ’s voice calls to all, and doesn’t just speak to those who understand in the first moment they hear it.
<< “ In fact, one of the sobering realities of today is that the entire Catholic Church is filled with priests, bishops and cardinals who aren’t even Catholic. “ >>
Particularly in the West, who all together rather led the way into broad decadence, leaving Pope Leo to collapse before the Altar, and recover to reportedly to privately declare to a few, that “the smoke of Satan has entered the Church”.
The caucus designation does not appear in the title, nor in the first post.
Don’t know if the RM changed that or not.
Jesus Christ selected twelve men -- most of them very flawed men -- to be his closest apostles. He didn't run after people who couldn't accept His message and turned away from Him.
This is exactly where the Church had it wrong for a long time when they translated the Latin pro multis (from the Consecration) incorrectly into the vernacular in the Novus Ordo Mass.
It's not just the homily, it's the fact that he dropped the Creed from his midnight Mass, rendering it illicit, if not invalid.
What a “Christian” thing to say...
Have a nice day.
As an aside, our brains weigh ~3.2 pounds, give or take. This is less than a grain of sand in our galaxy, and our galaxy is but a grain of sand in the known universe - all of which God made. For any of us, based upon the capacities of our small and finite brains, to think that we understand all truths and can understand the mind of God is ludicrous. In my opinion. We're all in this together, and I personally think God is there for all of us.
“It’s not just the homily, it’s the fact that he dropped the Creed from his midnight Mass, rendering it illicit, if not invalid.”
Agreed. Especially to do this at Christmas midnight mass, a mass at which ‘lost’ Christians often come to mass for the first time in a long while.
