For the name “Emmanuel, which being interpreted is ‘God with us,’”

Excellent treatise on the subject. I would, however, like to add my emphasis on "Emmanuel", that instead of simply 'God with us' as in the mere spiritual sense, it would be better interpreted as 'the one who walks among us, is God'. Giving more clarity to the incarnation of the second person of the Trinity.

The key to interpreting Scripture is doing so within the context of the entirety of Scripture.

The Msgr seems to be advocating sola scriptura again. He's getting there.

You should have read this earlier. Then you'd know.

Do you think He has just a few names and titles?

Do me a favor and listen to THIS. You might be inspired.

Why Was He Named Jesus and Not Emmanuel?

Because Isa. 7 is written about a young woman in Isaiah’s day (about 700 bc) who would bear a son and name him Immanuel.

Gabriel told Mary and Joseph to name him Jesus. Matthew borrowed the idea from Isa. 7 to suggest that Jesus is God with us.

Why Was He Named Jesus and Not Emmanuel?.....After 2000 years, translation from Aramaic to Greek to whatever, we don’t know what the true Bible says or what his name was. Sheesh! Get a grip!! We could NEVER converse with Shakespeare.

Because Hay-zeus is up on the roof putting up shingles, Manual’s in the field picking lettuce, Jose is weed whacking out front, and Maria is giving the baby a bath in the Nursery.

Odd thing is: not one single person on earth, called Yeshua by the name of ‘Jesus’ when He was here.

Truth in translation: names are not translated in strict translations. The name John in English, remains John in strict translations to other languages. John, is not going to respond if someone calls him by another name. Furthermore, John and his descendents are not going be real happy that some foreign people group write at length about him, using another name. Imagine Him mother hearing about it twisting. Who are they talking about?

Allah is not the name of our Father. Allah is just one “god” among multitudes. So “god” is a title of a diety, and YHVH’s name is not “god”, it is YHVH, or at the least, the God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob. Otherwise, “god” can be identified as any of the god, making the claim that Allah is the same “god” of the Bible.

Further, our Father goes by other attribute names:
YHVH Jireh - YHVH Provider
YHVH Rapha - YHVH Healer
YHVH Yeshua - YHVH Savior or YHVH of our Salvation

Because God, through Gabriel, told Mary what to name the child, and Mary obeyed. EOT.

.
He wasn’t named “Jesus,” he was named “Yehoshua” (Yah saves).

The pharisees created the term “Jesus” with their acronym YSHU (Yemach Shema Uzikro) which means may his name be lost and never recalled.

The Greeks depended on the Pharisees for their translations, and got pranked!

St. Thomas Aquinas, through his Summa Theologiae, will be our teacher in this analysis.

Not for me.

I'll go with the angel who declared:

Matthew 1:21

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.
