Judge Opposed to Gay Adoption Over Concerns for Child Welfare Found Guilty of Misconduct

A Kentucky Family Court judge who earlier this year said he cannot hear adoption cases involving gay or lesbian people, arguing that he is looking after the best interests of children, has been found guilty of misconduct.

The Louisville Courier Journal reported on Tuesday that W. Mitchell Nance, who previously announced his intention to resign on Dec. 16 due to the ethics and misconduct inquiry launched against him, has now been issued a public reprimand by the Judicial Conduct Commission.

The reprimand, passed by a 4–1 vote and made available online, says that the Kentucky code of judicial conduct requires judges to "fairly and impartially decide cases according to the law."

"Judge Nance's refusal to hear and decide adoption cases involving homosexuals is violative of said Canons," it adds, listing out canons that prohibit prejudice based on race, sex, religion, national original, disability, age, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status.

Nance explained back in April that "as a matter of conscience," he believes that "under no circumstance" would "the best interest of the child be promoted by the adoption by a practicing homosexual."

Nance's attorneys have also said that according to his sincere religious belief, "the divinely created order of nature is that each human being has a male parent and a female parent," the Herald Leader added.

“fairly and impartially decide cases according to the law.”

He did. God’s law. Now let see if he is vilified as much as Judge Moore was over the issuance of marriage licenses...

Stand for what’s best for the children and get taken down by the gay mafia. America is following the counsel of psychologists and psychiatrists more looney than any patient they’ve treated.

Gee- when are they gonna make it a felony to disapprove of gay marriage?

I would love to see the stats on abuse of children in houses with people that are gay. I bet the government is not keeping them just as the government did not keep stats on illegal aliens that commit crime.

I always cringe when I hear of a judge “sentencing” a child to a queer family!

Trying to make the law instead of interpreting it?

**Trying to make the law instead of interpreting it?**

The people who are objecting to this judge — not the judge.

Since no one is capable of being totally unbiased in ALL these areas, shouldn’t the judge be at least commended for essentially recusing himself in those cases that he admits to being biased about?

I commend him for sticking to his beliefs.

Thankfully, “his sincere religious belief” should be protected in American law.

I would love to see the stats on abuse of children in houses with people that are gay.

We have a LOT of examples, and those from a small portion of a tiny percent of the population. The stats don't appear to be good. A few examples:

- Frank Lombard - offered his adopted toddler "son" to other homosexuals online to rape.

- Larry Brinkin - San Fran homosexual hero (they named a week for him in his honor) was caught with thousands of child porn images and videos on his computer. He is not accused of abusing his adopted "son," but who knows what he is capable of with his penchant for championing violence on children?

- It's not at all surprising that "43 percent of males with same sex attraction reported sexual activity with another male during the ages of 10-12." (Manosevitz, “Early sexual behavior in adult homosexual and heterosexual males,” Journal of abnormal psychology, 76 (1970), 396-402.)
