Settled?? Wishful thinking by Cardinal Kasper — the problem only grows more unsettled and distressing. If any change was to be made, this wasn’t the way to try doing it. Now the original subject matter is accompanied by a tremendous and growing disrespect and dissention in the church. All of the which had to have been foreseen too.

Pet peeve: why does the article use the verb “said” for something that the Cardinal wrote?

His idea of conscience is misleading at the very least.

The constant teachings of the Church properly inform the conscience. It’s not an exercise in autonomous individualism. The notion that conscience is “the most secret core and sanctuary of a man...(where) he is alone with God, Whose voice echoes in his depths” is Kasper-speak for “do what you will if you decide that God is okay with it.” I mean, that seems to be the thrust of certain paragraphs of Amoris Laetitia. On the contrary, the voice of Jesus Christ echoes first and foremost in the Church and the authentic Magisterium. “He who hears you, hears Me.”

What's now "settled" unambiguously and eternally is Francis' position with respect to Communion for those living in irregular relationships, thanks to the publication of his letter to the Argentinian bishops in the AAS. The debate about this is now over and it is now impossible for weasels like Muller to maintain that Amoris laetitia is to be understood in conformity with Church tradition. That shtick is now dead in the water.

However, the controversy over AL is anything but over. If anything, it has now cranked up several notches as a result of the above. Kasper is one of Francis' flying monkeys.
