New research has revealed a shocking number of Brits don't know much about the birth of Jesus.
The History Channel survey found 20 per cent didn't know Jesus birth was remembered on Christmas Day and one in 20 thought Jesus was born over Easter.
Around one in 10 were unable to name Bethlehem as Jesus' place of birth while another 10 per cent were unaware he was born in a stable, despite the prevalence of nativity plays and Christian teaching in schools.
A spokesman for the History Channel, which commissioned the research to mark the launch of its new show Robert Powell on The Real Jesus of Nazareth, told the Independent: "For many of us, Christmas is a festivity we all look forward to celebrating with our loved ones.
"But over time, it seems people are becoming more and more unaware about the real reason we mark the day and the story of Jesus."
Despite the confusion over why we celebrate Christmas, the researchers found more than seven in 10 believed they had a good knowledge of the story of Jesus.
The study of 2,000 adults revealed one in 20 couldn't name Mary and Joseph as Jesus' parents while 16 per cent didn't know Jesus' occupation was a carpenter and thought he was jobless.
The research, carried out via OnePoll.com, also revealed only three in ten learned their knowledge of Jesus and his story from The Bible itself.

I believe you’re exactly correct. During the Feast of Tabernacles.
The man Jesus was not born on December 25th. Thats the date of the Solstice pagan stuff. He was most likely born around April. The Bible mentions no exact date of His birth. The Romans created December 25th.
There are more than a few here.
You mean, because of the headline, which contains TWO such errors?

They are idiots!

Ok, lets say it is 12/25. I cant recall anywhere in the scriptures that asks us to celebrate his birthday. On the other hand the Lord only asks that we keep the Lords table.
Be that as it’s being reported. The Anglicans restored the observance of Epiphany (Jan 6th 12th day) back on their calendars.
Though these idiots claim Old Testament Judaism as their own.
9 months earlier would be Dec/Jan so I just figure we’re celebrating the immaculate conception.
Classical, biblical, and similar names ending in a sibilant, especially if they are polysyllabic, do not take an added s in the possessive; among sources giving exceptions of this kind are The Times and The Elements of Style, which make general stipulations, and Vanderbilt University, which mentions only Moses and Jesus. As a particular case, Jesus' [my emphasis] is very commonly written instead of Jesus's even by people who would otherwise add 's in, for example, James's or Chris's. Jesus' is referred to as "an accepted liturgical archaism" in Harts Rules.
- Wikipedia
Please don't groan because I cite Wikipedia - it's electronic, and easier to access for this post. But it says essentially the same thing as my Bible (I'm a Technical Editor), The Chicago Manual of Style.

26% surveyed said “Jesus is a Peruvian international and reserve midfielder for West Ham United.”
Thanks for the clarification.
I was raised to believe the celebration of Christmas was pagan...course Luke’s time line was totally ignored. Once I read Luke’s description of the Conception and how it was with John the Baptist 6 months in the womb and he recognized the Spirit of Christ.... the pagans celebrations lost their relevance. Luke penned these details for cause and purpose and I consider it my Christian calling to share what got recorded and preserved.
Amen
