Active intercession?

Active intercession?

Question: Are the saints in heaven active in the affairs of Earth? Robert Bonsignore, Brooklyn, New York

Answer: Yes, we have a lot of evidence for that. But exactly how and to what extent they are aware and active is not fully known to us.

It seems unlikely that the saints can merely look down and watch us as though they were watching a movie, or that they can know our inmost thoughts. Such things are probably beyond their capacity and might even be considered intrusive of our privacy.

It seems safer to assume that the saints are aware of our needs and condition to the degree that God reveals this to them. Thus, if I am asking St. Anthony to pray for me, his capacity to hear my request is facilitated by the Lord and due to the membership both St. Anthony and I have in the Body of Christ. By analogy, the two members of my body that I call my hands can interact by the fact they are coordinated through my head. Jesus is the Head of the Body, the Church and everything in his Body is under his authority and coordinated by him, including the awareness and communion of various members of the body with each other.

"You do realize once a mind is closed around an idea, even though false, it is difficult for that person to objectively analyze another idea? 🤔" I had a PhD psychologist who spent his life teaching at a major university get up and leave one of my lectures in the divinity school three times, each time returning only to do it again a few minutes later. Several weeks layer he attended another of my lectures. He told me that he did not believe a word that I was saying, but when I demonstrated it with volunteers from the group, he was on intellectual overload and started shaking. Each time he left to calm down and walked the halls for a few minutes and returned, only to repeat the process again. Sometimes letting go of the old to make room for the new is a painful process. Thus the necessity for tribulation. It is the reason the Quakers and Shakers earned their names!

"I don’t care by what name you call Jesus, as long as you truly Love His Soul with all your heart.

Yes, many believe in the heresy that all roads lead to God.

Under your expressed belief, anyone who worships trees, but is a nice person and truly loves that tree spirit will lead to God. It is just another name of Jesus.

Scripture though, says it is Jesus Christ alone, "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

This is where your false hermeneutic leads you.

Still, it is a free country.

Thank for that info. I was referring to the fact that Salvation posted something that the casual observer, though I am an ardent Salvation fan, would think is talked out.

On those 50 posts where I post stuff like:

“At the risk of being too obvious for such a well informed FREEPER audience, Russia TOTALLY HAS THE GOODS on Hillary. In addition to the emails she deleted which if Russia doesn’t have them they are not doing their spycraft very well, they have given her such large amounts of money the funds cannot be easily returned.

I always say if you as an American give money to a politician, they OWE YOU a little.

If you as a foreigner give money to a US politician you OWN THEM.”

Which is connecting the dots in a different way, and since I am an expert in cybersecurity I can back up, I get almost no replies.

No biggie. I am always happy to see such an intelligent poster as Salvation get the views and interaction. He is certainly a GREAT FREEPER, that is for sure. I am a little envious but the views couldn’t go to a better FREEPER.

We had one thread regarding Mary hit 6000 posts IIRC. Salvation wanted it pulled IIRC.

The Dr. Did not hijack the thread any more than those who took the bait of arguing the credibility of those credentials.

When you play the "I have a PhD and you don't so I'm smarter than you card" be expected to be asked for proof of the credentials.

The good doctor himself did this to others on other threads when people challenged what he believed.

>>If you were to define being Christian by the actions described in the OT, you would be far from the truth. But yet the OT is a Christian scripture.<<

Which actions are you referring to? The ones the God-haters pretend are in the Old Testament?

***********************************************************

>>Even Jesus grew spiritually during His life. Originally reserving His ministry to the Jews. Later He expanded it.<<

Jesus grew spiritually? There is no evidence that Jesus believed anything other than incomprehensible love for the world and for mankind. He died to save the world (John 3:17).

*********************************************************

>>Thus causing disputes between Peter and Paul.<<

Jesus did not cause that. Peter’s “bitter-clinger” determination to adhere to the Law of Moses caused the dispute. Peter should have understood that the death of Christ (the husband) released Israel (the wife) from the Old Covenant (Rom 7:1-4).

: )

“When you play the “I have a PhD and you don’t so I’m smarter than you card” be expected to be asked for proof of the credentials.”

I deal with this every day in academia so it doesn’t bother me.

The accurac, reference support and fit, both by logic and feel is more important to me.

Discernment is a different matter. A cement mixer may be evil or good or neutral...but discernment tells us not to stick our heads into the opening even if the cement mixer is “good”!

You did not read my post as I intended it to be interpreted.

My apologies for lack of clarity.

How many names are there for God?

Just because you might speak a different language and use different names does not mean that we are not referring to the same God or person.

Why do you attach judgement to the cement mixer as good or bad. It just is.

Interesting but has nothing to do with Christ's Name.

Just because you might speak a different language and use different names does not mean that we are not referring to the same God or person.

Just because someone worships The Great Tree Spirit, that is just another name for God... well, according to you.

I don’t know if “growth” is what I would use. As he IS God and Torah made flesh....it was really more of a continuing and logarithmic expression and revelation of that “word made flesh” the longer he lived on this Earth. Thus being the open bodily revelation of the love of the Father...there would have come a point where if he didn’t die, the kingdoms of the Earth would have had to submit to the growing power and influence of God that was making himself manifest thru the son Christ Jesus. Yet the sin problem needed to be dealt with so Christ chose to sacrifice himself.

The spiritual law was that those who had sinned were forever damned unless their sin could be forgiven and only a man without sin could be sacrificed and his blood poured out so that we could be made acceptable to the Father.

Thus the victory of God and the wrath of Satan... oh he must have raged that God had cheated, had broken the rules as to how man should have been judged and then destroyed. Mankind of itself could not produce a substitute good enough so God in his love for us became a man thru his son Jesus but sinless in nature. The power of Christ’s innocent blood poured out was enough to spiritually cleanse all men who would confess and believe then being baptized in his name! This is the God “who knows that he is God” and the Christ who, before Abraham was....IS!

Yes, many. The problem arises when our ego plays God and thinks that it is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit teaches through epiphanies. There are many scriptures reflecting communication with the Holy Spirit.

Post away!

In being Christ like in our own behavior, it is not our position to judge.

Judge NOT???

Sigh...

Jesus has commanded us to judge!

"Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?... And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?... Do you not know that we shall judge angels?... How much more, things that pertain to this life?.. If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge ? (1 Corinthians 6:1-5).

Many commands of God require the exercise of righteous judgment.

"But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us" (2 Thessalonians 3:6).

"And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother" (2 Thessalonians 3:14,15).

"Teach and exhort these things. If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wrangling of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself" (2 Timothy 6:2b-5).

"Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple" (Romans 16:17,18).

All these commands require the careful exercise of righteousness judgment. Do not be deceived by smooth words and flattering speech. Beware of wolves who come to you with a sheep's skin.

We must be careful not to make unqualified judgments. But we must judge appropriately when commanded to do so.

"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."  (John 7:24).
