500 years of Protestant Revolution: CHRIST THE KING is the Anti-Luther
Rorate Caeli ^ | October 29, 2017 | New Catholic

Posted on 10/29/2017 12:05:02 PM PDT by ebb tide

Why did Pope Pius XI, when he established the Feast of the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ with his encyclical Quas Primas un 1925, not choose for it the last Sunday of the liturgical year (as Paul VI did later for his new mass), but rather the Last Sunday in October?

The short answer is simple: Christ the King is the Anti-Luther. The Lord is not the king of this or that German princedom, changing doctrines according to the whim of the moment. He's the King of the Universe, unchanging and unchangeable. As a counter-feast of the "Reformation Sunday" Protestants celebrate on the last Sunday in October, Pius XI proposed Our Lord, King.

I have to think that when a person is truth-blind, vaccinated with a very small dose of truth, mixed with lots of fillers that distort the truth that was added, there is no recognition of a "ouch."
"Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God."

Thanks be to God for His indescribable Gift!!

... And Blessed Saint Luther, for obeying God to recover that Gift!

By indulging in cutsie nicknames to demean and diminish other Christians, even other forms of Catholicism, you appear to be worshipping your religious tradition rather than the Living God, and finding superiority for yourself in your knowlege of your rituals.
Mark 7:6-9
He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:
‘This people honors Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’
For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.”
He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

If that is "Lutheran" of me, well, thank You, Jesus, and may Thy Holy Name be praised!

You do know that the muslims want to slit both of our throats, equally, right?

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 10:28 KJV

A hard slap at fellow Christians. Islamists must love this sort of thing. Divide and conquer.

Pfft!

The Muslims have their OWN divisions that they kill EACH OTHER about!

Too many militants on both sides on the board.

Two men considering a religious vocation were having a conversation. "What is similar about the Jesuit and Dominican Orders? " the one asked.

The second replied, "Well, they were both founded by Spaniards -- St. Dominic for the Dominicans, and St. Ignatius of Loyola for the Jesuits.
They were also both founded to combat heresy -- the Dominicans to fight the Albigensians, and the Jesuits to fight the Protestants."

"What is different about the Jesuit and Dominican Orders?"

"Met any Albigensians lately?"

The one good thing is that the Bible reading is accepted by Catholics as well.

They REALLY like Rev. 12:1; claiming that it is MARY; the Mother of our Lord; as the WOMAN being referred to:

Revelation 12  Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)

And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars:

Shouldn't they ALSO claim that the woman is still Mary in the FOLLOWING verses??

And being with child, she cried travailing in birth, and was in pain to be delivered.

And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads, and ten horns: and on his head seven diadems:

And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered; that, when she should be delivered, he might devour her son.

And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod: and her son was taken up to God, and to his throne.

And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God, that there they should feed her a thousand two hundred sixty days.

I thought that John was supposed to be taking care of Mary??

John 19:26-27 KJV

I am surprised some FRpers make such a big deal over a feast day.

You shouldn't be.

This attitude is VERY old!

Luke 9:54-55

When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?”
But Jesus turned and rebuked them.

If you honestly believe someone arguing that the entire Bible is important rather than just the Jewish Pharisee Rabbi Approved Luther Subset of Scripture is proving they think the Gospel is foolishness, get comfortable with hearing the words, I never knew you

Likewise...

If you honestly believe that the entire Bible is important; as long as OTHER non-biblical writings are included; Appartition spoken words are applicable; and Early Church Fathers are infallible...

So you use a Catholic or Orthodox Bible rathter than a King James?

So you use a Douay-Rheims or Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition Bible rather than a Vulgate?

Very true. But that doesn’t excuse attempts by some folks to drive Christians apart.

Had an amazing festival worship service at my LCMS church Sunday. The sermon again reminded us of the difference between salvation by works (which we can never achieve) and salvation by grace which has already been achieved for us. I pity those who have so twisted the beautiful and simple Gospel of grace to the point they have no peace and no blessed assurance of their salvation. All needlessly because Christ is Sufficient!!!!

Give him CREDIT that he got Catholics to read the BIBLE.

Hate to burst your bubble; but Johann Gutenberg, a Catholic and the inventor of the printing press, deserves the credit.

Luther merely edited and excised the Bible to fit his own personal whims.

Well you forget that the historic person invented the printing press.

Let’s just say that Luther forced the Church to clean house called the counter reformation.
