The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints now owns the printers manuscript of the Book of Mormon for $35 million, the sellers say.
The Community of Christ, formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, announced the sale, and the price tag, on Wednesday. The Independence, Missouri-based church has owned the manuscript since 1903.
Steven E. Snow, LDS Church historian and recorder, confirmed the acquisition, calling the document both a spiritual and historic treasure. Church officials did not immediately confirm, but also did not challenge, the stated sales price when contacted Thursday.

That is where KCMO is, have any of you ever been there?
Believe me, it is the furthest thing from a paradise.

If you ever get the chance go on the tour of the Independence temple. Very nice facility.

I got to visit Lee’s Summit in 2011! Steve has family there!
It’s not paradise but it’s not bad, either. The Lakewood neighborhood is pretty nice!
I take it the temple has not yet been dedicated & is temporarily open to non-Mormons.
I’ve been through one. Very nice though the decor has been described as early Hyatt-Regency.
Joseph Smith was an admirer of Mohammed & the “Alcoran”, just sayin’.
I look at Mormonism as 19th Century Scientology. Think about it.
Have you seen that weird tower in Independence?
I see it as family-friendly Freemasonry.
So they bought the golden tablets?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve always heard that Joseph Smith was illiterate. I wonder how he would have heard of Mohammed. And what is alcoran?
I thought the twirl was neat at the time. Now looking at pictures of the inside as an adult it seems..... strange.
It sure has some weird ideas that don’t match up to any Bible passages. It is a cult. They dare to call themselves Christian, yet deny the deity of Christ, among many other blasphemous ideas. Now if we could just get all that fun family night stuff into Christianity...
Actually old Joe Smith claimed Eden to be in Independence, MO not KC.
Kansas City, MO is known as "the City of Fountains," for the simple reason that we have more than Rome! Try gazing at this and maybe you'll see why we love our City: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fountains_in_the_Kansas_City_metropolitan_area#/media/File%3AJC_Nichols_Fountain_by_Henri-Léon_Gréber_Kansas_City.jpg
The original I wonder how long it will take the LDS to compare today’s BOM to that copy. Or will they when they find all the changes to the “Most accurate book of all time”.

That is an excellent point zerosix :)
Kansas is still G-d's country :D
Joseph Smith was not illiterate. He used his “seer stones” to translate the golden plates into English, by one account. His first Book of Mormon was published in 1830 & said to be the history of a Hebraic kingdom in North America. Pure poppycock of course, but JS was already well known as a storyteller.
Mohammed OTOH was illiterate. And a pedophile. And a mass murderer. Etc. Both “prophets” took multiple wives.
“Alcoran” was JS’s rendering of El Koran.
