Theologian: Soon "breakthrough" for a common supper
katholische.de (google translation) ^ | August 12, 2017 | unknown

Wolfgang Huber, former Council President of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), believes in a "breakthrough" at the communion of Protestants and Catholics to the Ecumenical Church Day of 2021. "I can not imagine that we will celebrate this church day without A breakthrough has been achieved in the area of Eucharistic hospitality, "said the former bishop of Berlin in the interview of the" Weser-Kurier "(Saturday). Until the event in Frankfurt am Main 2021 something must move.

"Machistort des Papstes" less promising

According to Huber, the next steps in the Eucharist and the Lord's Supper will be "decentralized". "My feeling is that Pope Francis wants to broaden the scope of individual bishops' conferences for ecumenically relevant decisions, and sees this path as a more promising one as a central path for the whole world church and a breakthrough through a pope's power," said Huber.

The former bishop of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz was 75 years old on Saturday. Berlin's Archbishop Heiner Koch congratulated him with a congratulatory letter: Koch thanked him especially for the "strong accents" which he had placed both in the Protestant church and in the ecumenism. He praised Huber as a "strong integrator" and recalled that the fusion of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg with the Evangelical Church of the Silesian Oberlausitz fell in his office in 2004.

Huber was born on 12 August 1942 in Strasbourg. From 1994 to 2009 he was a bishop of Berlin, and from 2003 to 2009 he was the presidency of the Evangelical Church in Germany. Before that, he was himself president of the church. In his own words, however, it was self-evident for him to leave the office before his bishop's election. "For me the church day movement is characterized by the fact that it is a lay movement that cooperates with the Church, but on the basis of reciprocal freedom", he explained. At the Kirchentag this year in Berlin and Wittenberg you got the feeling of a joint event. "From the old counterpart of the church and the church day nothing was visible to the outside." He wanted something more friction, however. "Friction generates fire," says Huber. (JHE / KNA)

They’ll be hoping that the burning they are feeling is purgatory that they always believed in and counted on. Their problem is, an eternity of burning still would never cleanse the sin that only the blood of Christ applied to the life can accomplish.

Powerful statement...You won't burn your way into heaven...When the OT Saints went to Abraham's Bosom they were in a separate compartment far away from the heat...Jesus went there and tore the gates off their hinges (which is still wide open) and led the Saints out of there so the gates of hell would not and could not prevail against the church (Mat. 16:18)...That compartment they like to call purgatory is wide open and can not hold anyone...And there wasn't any heat there to begin with...There is no heat for Christians...

The Jews were His first target and imagine what would have happened if they had accepted the Messiah.

Romans 11:11-16 So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather, through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous. Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion mean!

Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

How do you think Catholics will feel, when they have to spend eternity, standing right beside you in Heaven? Do you think we will still have our theological discussions in Heaven, the way we do now? 😁😊

Oh; they'll get over it MUCH better than MORMONS will!!

LDS teaching says there are 3 levels of Heaven.

HEAVEN-The Mormon church teaches there are three levels of heaven (three "degrees of glory"):

Celestial - for Mormons who have kept ALL of the laws and ordinances of their church.
Terrestrial - for religious people who aren't Mormons and for Mormons who have not met the requirements of the Church.
Telestial - where unbelievers go

A MORMON  does NOT make it to the top level withOUT a current, valid Temple Recommend.
Studies show that only about 15% or so of ALL Mormons have one; therefore...

MOST Mormons will be on level TWO witht the REST of us 'religious people'.

That is gonna SUCK for them!!

(I wonder if the 3 I pinged to this reply have a TR?)

Catholics seem to think their priests and saints will put them over the top and that no one else is worthy of being saved

HMMMmmm...

There is "no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth...no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God"
-- Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p.190

"If we get our salvation, we shall have to pass by him [Joseph Smith]; if we enter our glory, it will be through the authority he has received. We cannot get around him [Joseph Smith]"
- (as quoted in 1988 Melchizedek Priesthood Study Guide, p. 142)

"I tell you, Joseph holds the keys, and none of us can get into the celestial kingdom without passing by him. We have not got rid of him, but he stands there as the sentinel, holding the keys of the kingdom of God; and there are many of them beside him. I tell you, if we get past those who have mingled with us, and know us best, and have a right to know us best, probably we can pass all other sentinels as far as it is necessary, or as far as we may desire. But I tell you, the pinch will be with those that have mingled with us, stood next to us, weighed our spirits, tried us, and proven us: there will be a pinch, in my view, to get past them. The others, perhaps, will say, If brother Joseph is satisfied with you, you may pass. If it is all right with him, it is all right with me. Then if Joseph shall say to a man, or if brother Brigham say to a man, I forgive you your sins, "Whosoever sins ye remit they are remitted unto them;" if you who have suffered and felt the weight of transgression—if you have generosity enough to forgive the sinner, I will forgive him: you cannot have more generosity than I have. I have given you power to forgive sins, and when the Lord gives a gift, he does not take it back again."
-- Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p.154-155

"It is because the Lord called Joseph Smith that salvation is again available to mortal men.... If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration, there would be no salvation,"
-- Bruce McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 396, 670

"No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith. From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are—I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent. He holds the keys of that kingdom for the last dispensation—the keys to rule in the spirit-world; and he rules there triumphantly, for he gained full power and a glorious victory over the power of Satan while he was yet in the flesh, and was a martyr to his religion."

Brigham Young, October 9, 1859
Intelligence, Etc.
Remarks by President BRIGHAM YOUNG, delivered in the Tabernacle, Great Salt Lake City, October 9, 1859.
Reported by G. D. Watt
Journal of Discourses, Vol. 7, p.282-91

They succeeded in killing Joseph, but he had finished his work.
He was a servant of God, and gave us the Book of Mormon.
He said the Bible was right in the main, but, through the translators and others, many precious portions were suppressed, and several other portions were wrongly translated; and now his testimony is in force, for he has sealed it with his blood.
As I have frequently told them, no man in this dispensation will enter the courts of heaven, without the approbation of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jun.
Who has made this so?
Have I?
Have this people?
Have the world?
No; but the Lord Jehovah has decreed it.
If I ever pass into the heavenly courts, it will be by the consent of the Prophet Joseph.
If you ever pass through the gates into the Holy City, you will do so upon his certificate that you are worthy to pass.
Can you pass without his inspection?
No; neither can any person in this dispensation, which is the dispensation of the fulness of times.
In this generation, and in all the generations that are to come, everyone will have to undergo the scrutiny of this Prophet.
They say that they killed Joseph, and they will yet come with their hats under their arms and bend to him; but what good will it do them, unless they repent?
They can come in a certain way and find favor, but will they?

The Mormons really say that? Then we have a problem. Apollo C Quiboloy says he is the anointed son of God, so I get the sneaking suspicion, that they both can't be right. They may very well both be wrong, but they can't both be right.
Then there is Felix Manalo, the started of the INC. At least Manalo didn't claim that salvation came through him personally. He did, however, claim to be the angel from the east in Revelation 7. It's a load of bunk. It's every bit as much of a cult, as the RCC, Mormons, JWs, and Quiboloy people. 😇😀😆

Wow. A Protestant commentator who rejects the Sacrament of Penance. How about that!

Where in Scripture is a *sacrament of penance*. Taught, Arthur?

In that passage where Jesus says he is giving the apostles the power to forgive sins.

Do you believe in the Trinity. Where in Scripture is “the Trinity” mentioned?

Dear Arthur,

I already addressed your argument about forgiving sin. I also note Christ never says this passed to anyone outside the disciples.

Nor is there such a thing as the sacrament of penance in Scripture.

In regards to the Trinity, the word is not found in Scripture. The descriptive term was adopted to express the truth that Scripture does teach: that the Father, the Son, and the Spirit *all* have the attributes of deity. They are also separate Persons from each other. They are also One God.

All taught in Scripture.

The theological term “Trinity” expresses this truth in a succinct way.

If the absence of the term “Sacrament of Penance” in Scripture proves there is no Sacrament of Penance, then the absence of the term “Trinity” in Scripture proves there is no Trinity.

In other words, the absence of the term “Sacrament of Penance” in Scripture proves absolutely nothing.

So why did you bring it up?

"In other words, the absence of the term “Sacrament of Penance” in Scripture proves absolutely nothing."

It demonstrates there is no sacrament of penance, except as imported from pagan religion, well after the death of the Apostles.

Pagan much, Arthur?

In other words, Jesus describes a religion, an institution, in which he appoints men to mediate the teaching and the sanctifying activity of Jesus.

Heb 8:10) But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people.

God destroyed the temple, the old sacrificial system and the old priestly system and tore the curtain separating himself with us. He wants a personal relationship with us and always has.

It is man that has rebuilt the old system.

+1

[and imported it from paganism, instead of starting from scratch]
