Wolfgang Huber, former Council President of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), believes in a "breakthrough" at the communion of Protestants and Catholics to the Ecumenical Church Day of 2021. He praised Huber as a "strong integrator" and recalled that the fusion of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg with the Evangelical Church of the Silesian Oberlausitz fell in his office in 2004.
Huber was born on 12 August 1942 in Strasbourg. From 1994 to 2009 he was a bishop of Berlin, and from 2003 to 2009 he was the presidency of the Evangelical Church in Germany. Before that, he was himself president of the church. In his own words, however, it was self-evident for him to leave the office before his bishop's election. "For me the church day movement is characterized by the fact that it is a lay movement that cooperates with the Church, but on the basis of reciprocal freedom", he explained. At the Kirchentag this year in Berlin and Wittenberg you got the feeling of a joint event. "From the old counterpart of the church and the church day nothing was visible to the outside." Well, anyone who thinks that no one is getting to heaven but their group is not making it because they are trusting someone or something else than Jesus.
Salvation is NOT dependent on religion or denominational affiliation.
Sad to say, those people will not be next to me in heaven.
They’ll be hoping that the burning they are feeling is purgatory that they always believed in and counted on. Their problem is, an eternity of burning still would never cleanse the sin that only the blood of Christ applied to the life can accomplish.

I don't even think Peter's confession of faith, is the rock. I think Jesus Christ is the Rock:
Jesus Christ is the Rock of ages, the Rock of our salvation and the Rock that when smitten brought forth a spring of living water to quench the thirst of all men who believe on Him.
O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Psalms 95:1
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. Deuteronomy 32:4
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 1 Cor 10:4.
There are other verses identifying Christ as the Rock, but these are some of them.
When He told Peter, thought art Peter, He referred to himself as the Rock, not Peter. Some may not agree, but such is life. 😇🇵🇭

Thanks again - some out there have trouble with the concept of Christ having paid our price if we only accept Him as our Lord and Savior and will go through all sorts of gyrations to make what He did not good enough w/o human mortals to “seal the deal”.
The Bible also tells us, the poor in spirit are blessed and the kingdom of Heaven is theirs. Most that I know believe that means those who have been saved but who recognize that their sinful nature is still alive and well and who lament like Paul because they wish they could be better for Him and honor His gift better.
Catholics seem to think their priests and saints will put them over the top and that no one else is worthy of being saved - ignoring that nobody is worthy w/o His gift and that the Jews were His original target and us "dogs" were allowed the incredible crumbs of salvation.
