Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Ark of the Covenant, The Tabernacle, and The Temple

Numbers 7

84 These were the offerings of the Israelite leaders for the dedication of the altar when it was anointed: twelve silver plates, twelve silver sprinkling bowls and twelve gold dishes. 85 Each silver plate weighed a hundred and thirty shekels, and each sprinkling bowl seventy shekels. Altogether, the silver dishes weighed two thousand four hundred shekels,[e] according to the sanctuary shekel. 86 The twelve gold dishes filled with incense weighed ten shekels each, according to the sanctuary shekel. Altogether, the gold dishes weighed a hundred and twenty shekels.[f] 87 The total number of animals for the burnt offering came to twelve young bulls, twelve rams and twelve male lambs a year old, together with their grain offering. Twelve male goats were used for the sin offering. 88 The total number of animals for the sacrifice of the fellowship offering came to twenty-four oxen, sixty rams, sixty male goats and sixty male lambs a year old. These were the offerings for the dedication of the altar after it was anointed.

89 When Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover on the ark of the covenant law. In this way the Lord spoke to him.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The aptly named Book of Numbers can be very daunting upon first reading. It contained many pages of facts and figures, describing the family census of the tribes, the number of men from each group apt for military service, the layout of the camp, and the amount of offerings for each tribe. The preceding 83 Verses in this Chapter list the offerings of each tribe, minutely by measurement, and they are all exactly the same. So, in effect, you are reading the same thing Twelve Times! (I did not cut and paste the whole Chapter, but I think that you can take my word for that). The number Twelve is very interesting, as there are Twelve Tribes, Twelve Apostles, Twelve Constellations in the Zodiac, Twelve Months in the Year, 24 Hours in a Day, Twelve Major Scales and Twelve Minor scales in Western Music, and so on. What happens when reading the Twelve Tribes bring their gifts is that one gets into a rhythm of reading...and then, suddenly, we get the Verse about Moses HEARING directly from God, from between the Cherubim, on the Mercy Seat, of the Ark of the Covenant. The verse hits us right between the eyes!

The Book of Numbers may have a lot of "Data", but it does not leave the Ark of the Covenant behind. The little bits of Narrative between all the numbers are some of the most blessed things in the Torah. Take for example, this little gem at the end of the 6th Chapter of this difficult Book:

22 The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

24 “‘“The Lord bless you
and keep you;

25 the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;

26 the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”’

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

God Bless America!

Father God, we thank You, that You have provided the perfect sacrifice. We thank You that You have invited us to fellowship with You. We thank You for all. Lead us to minister to those who do not know You, that they will learn the joy to be called a child of God.
Always, we lift up the persecuted and we lift up those who work to spread the Good News, especially those working in hostile nations.

in Jesus’ name we do pray
Amen
