Have been attending a Latin Rite parish for about four months now. The last time I went to confession the priest suggested I make an appointment to make a general confession because I admitted to feeling overwhelmed by all the sins of my past life since I had returned to the faith later in life and didn't feel like the priest at my previous, Novus Ordo parish took such matters seriously enough. All such suggestions will be much appreciated. I'm going through an unpleasant time but I know it's because taking my faith more seriously has served to show me how much time I've wasted and how much I have to ammend for.
I take it you’ve not read Montfort.
In the ancient world, people didn't just pray to the gods/God, they sacrificed to them. Sacrifice was always seen as a greater act than prayer.
I know you don't share our sacrificial theology, but you can't judge us by your limited standards either. What we define as the highest form of prayer and the supreme sacrifice is never, ever, ever offered to Mary. Not even close. So there remains an infinite gulf between her and God at the very heart of Catholicism, which even Montfort's rapturous devotion cannot ever bridge.

I read your post as if you were returning to Confession after a long while as other have apparently others did.
So it seems you’ve already been to Confession since returning to the Faith. If this is the case don’t let yourself be overwhelmed with your past sins, they’ve already been absolved if you honestly forgot to mention them the last time you went.
If any particular sin is still weighing on your conscience then confess it next time you go but don’t worry about trying to remember all of them next time. They’ve already been forgiven if you honestly forgot them the first time you went back after a long time. God understands that.
Go monthly or twice a month now (or as needed when/if you commit a mortal sin of course) And from now on when you are aware of a sin mark it down somewhere and then you can tell the priest how many times you committed sin X. That’s a good practice for you and helpful for him so he may give you some good advice if he’s so inclined to avoid ones that are habitual for you. But always don’t worry if you forget one here and there. If you go to Confession truly contrite the precision of the recounting doesn’t matter that’s only to help you and the priest make a good confession. But all your sins are always forgiven even ones you honestly forget. So don’t become scrupulous about counting them and obsessing over them.

What is overlooked about Montfort is that his motto was “God alone.” That everything flows from God and everything returns to God. For Montfort, the overarching principle regarding the role of Mary is that it does not exist on its own, that it is entirely reliant on God.

Are you saying you don’t bother with the Ten Commandments, then?? I don’t see them as equal, at all, to the OT laws.
I will say - Protestant/ Evangelical/ Holy Roller for 20 years, THEN converted to the Catholic Church. I love confession. I walk with the Lord. Those things are not mutually exclusive.

Jesus noted something different than what you're saying regarding the 10 Commandments.

If you're trying to justify yourself by keeping the 10 Commandments you have to keep them perfectly...both in word and spirit.
If you break one it's as if you've broken the whole Law as noted per James.

To all those who have confessions to make...Get on you knee’s and pray to God the Father and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Your sins will be forgiven. Jesus is the High Priest. No intermediaries needed. He alone intercedes with God the Father.
then you are living a lie. If all I have to do is go to God and ask forgiveness of my sins, then I don’t have to go to church either, all I have to do is raise my hands on Sunday and praise God from my kitchen...Jesus gave us a priesthood and the 7 sacraments for the priest to administer them.

We're not told to confess our sins to a Roman Catholic Priest....we are however told not to neglect our church meetings.
We also know there were people meeting for church in the early NT.
We do not see the Roman Catholic church in the New Testament.
You didn't answer what I asked about the Mass. So I'll assume that you probably can't answer it, and instead have a little Latin lesson:
Auxiliatrix = female helper.
Adiuxtrix = female assistant.
Mediatrix = female mediator.
Explain to me how any of those titles indicates divinity, since helping, assisting, and mediating are all things humans can do for each other and are not exclusively divine. Did you find Creatrix anywhere in Montfort? Omnipotenta?

The NT notes there is ONE mediator between God and man and that is Christ.
The NT also notes Jesus is our Advocate and so is the Holy Spirit.
Roman Catholicism has very subtly raised Mary to the status of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

You keep saying this, Ealgeone. But you never provide any evidence supporting this claim. Where has it ever been stated in Catholic doctrine or teaching that Mary is to be accorded the same status as that which is given to Jesus and the Holy Spirit?
