...In a statement issued at noon today, the Vatican said the Holy Father thanked the Most Eminent Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller at the end of his five-year mandate as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, as president of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, and the Pontifical Biblical Commission and the International Theological Commission...
There was no announcement of a new appointment for the German cardinal.
...rare for a cardinal prefect not to have his mandate renewed...
Born...on the island of Majorca, Spain, Archbishop Ladaria is known to be a kind, affable and theologically conservative prelate who has a special interest in patristics, the branch of theology that deals with the lives, writings, and doctrines of the early Christian theologians...
He also said does not like extremisms, either progressive, or traditionalist ones but believes there is a via media which is the correct path to take, even if each of us has his own peculiarities, because, thanks be to God, we do not repeat, we are not clones.
In the same interview, he underlined the role of the CDF which is first about promoting and then, if necessary, protecting the faith. He added that the Congregation always moves with discretion and speaks exclusively through its acts.
The Spanish prelate has publicly said little, if anything, about the Popes apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia... How he will deal with the thorny issue of interpreting the document is therefore unclear, but as a Jesuit and given his personality, he is expected to take a less disputed position than that of his predecessor...
Having a Jesuit in charge may help bring it in from the cold, but some will feel uneasy about having two members of the Society of Jesus holding the two most senior positions in the Church...

I honestly do not know the answer to this question:
Is this good news or bad news?
Prayers for Holy Mother Church.
Very sad loss. Now comes Cardinal Sarah?
Herein, Mueller is quoted at the time, earlier, as saying of AL that it does not pose a danger to the faith.
Now, it does.
All I want to know is if the traditional Latin Mass of the FSSP will continue, regardless of what comes to suppress it. The Enemy is after the Holy Mass of Tradition.
That will not happen. The older form of the Roman Rite will still be offered. Now, it might not get the encouragement with the successor for Cardinal Sarah but it will not be outlawed because there was never anything in Vatican II saying it should be and Pope Benedict Emiritus’s apostolic letter confirms this.
Well reading the article from NCRegister, he seems quite solid. He was appointed by Pope Benedict in 2008 and was elevated to Number 2 at CDF and he worked on a committee to bring back the SSPX.
Also, I noticed he believes that the theology of the early Church Fathers is the normative way to interpret Catholic Doctrine and fully understand Christ’s message in the NT, etc.
So he already has earned goodwill from me on his love for Patristic theology.
This is coming from “The Register” not the disinformer. Don’t know much about Pentin or where he’s coming from but he did take a swipe at Francis for not reassigning Muller.
Heretic.
He’s a Universalist. Along the lines of Bishop Barron.
Pentin wrote a book on the rigging of the Sin-nods.
It's spelled Synods. Or are you an Anti-Catholic worming yourself into to a Catholic Caucus thread?
Bergoglio’s synods were a nod to sin.
He whom you irreverently refer to as Bergoglio, I refer to as The Pope.
Okay, thank you.
Ping
Michael Matt and Chris Ferrara call them the “Sin-nods’” and that’s good enough for me.
Pius XII used to make late-night phone calls, and bark into the phone’ “This is Pacelli!”
There’s nothing irreverent about calling the pro-abortion, pro-sodomy, Marxist Soros-sock-puppet in Rome “Bergoglio.”
So you’ve been Anti-Catholic since 1959, which is when Cardinal Silvio Oddi first proposed a permanent consultative body of bishops drawn from many parts of the world to discuss major concerns of the Church. That was the beginning of Synods.
Good to know your leanings!
So you are on first-name basis with The Pope! Wow.
