I'm way ahead of her. I left the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2009. The Catholic parish I joined is under the jurdiction of the Eparchy of Parma, although the parish itself is physically right on the Cook County-Will County border in southwest Chicagoland. Our pastor is also very outspoken against the cult of Obama, abortion, gay "rights", and islamofacism.
Still, I would say many conservatives complaining about Cupich seem to be looking back at the Cardinal George years with rose-colored glasses. I don't like Cupich one bit and I think he's significantly to the left of Cardinal George. But I can't say he's rocked the boat much in terms of the Archdiocese's policies. Under Cardinal George's reign, the "official" policy was handing out communion to pro-abortion politicians, asking Catholics to donate to the "Catholic Campaign for Human Development" (which should be called the Catholic Campaign to Elect Democrats, all the money goes to leftist "social justice" causes), and Cardinal George himself marching in the rally for "undocumented" aliens.
Don't get me wrong, I met Cardinal George in the flesh and I actually think he was a decent guy, but the Archdiocese of Chicago overall has been leaning left for a LONG time. Cupich's policies are simply nothing new.
Point well taken, my mom sure likes George a deal better now that’s gone. She loathed his predecessor, Bernadin, thinks he was a homo.
I remember you saying you went Eastern Catholic and your parents didn’t get it or something. Sounds like it was a great move.
