Declarations in the Vatican Congregation for the Clergy's recent document "The Gift of the Priestly Vocation" have been called "disrespectful," "ambiguous" and "insulting" by the Association of U.S. Catholic Priests.
In a statement released April 19, the 1,200-member Ohio-based organization charged that "the terms 'homosexual tendencies' and 'deep-seated homosexual tendencies' are ambiguous and disrespectful of the personhood of those who identify with a homosexual orientation." The terms appear in the Dec. 8, 2016, document's section titled "Persons with Homosexual Tendencies."
"We find it also unfounded and insulting," the group said, adding that the clergy congregation document "implies that ordained priests with a homosexual orientation who serve the Church with distinction 'find themselves in a situation that gravely hinders them from relating correctly to men and women.' "
The Association of U.S. Catholic Priests said its statement was being sent to all U.S. bishops, the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors, the U.S. bishops' Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations, the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus, and the National Association of Hispanic Priests of the USA.
"If the Congregation for the Clergy document had stated that heterosexual and homosexual persons who are living chaste lives can be admitted to ordination to the priesthood it would have been more respectful and inclusive. The issue for discernment is whether the applicant or candidate has integrated his sexual identity with Catholic Christian faith and spirituality," said the statement, which was authored by the association's 12-member leadership team.

One’s a normal urge that’s BRUTAL for men to control but they can.
Once’s not.
The problem is that a priest isn’t likely to go with a bunch of school girls somewhere without a nun, usually.
A group of boys and Father, that seems harmless enough...
We Catholics helped win the first fight and voted majority for Trump, even with illegal and legal Hispanic Catholic voters breaking to hitlery.
Now we have to fight to take back our church.
breeding means men + women....no ifs, ands or butts.....
“A group of boys and Father, that seems harmless enough...”
Are you out of touch! Or are you crazy? No priest in this country would be caught dead going anywhere with a boy or group of boys! Not for a million dollars! If a priest is SEEN out in broad daylight just talking to a boy or boys, the bishop’s phone will be ringing within minutes.
I do not argue with you at all. But how very very tragic a state we’ve fallen to when an adult can’t even speak with youngsters without it causing suspicion as you described. Very sad Do u think this is a widespread condition now, or ?

Dear Arthur, apparently the priests don’t abuse boys in public. Apparently, when a bishop’s phone rings, he often moves them to other unsuspecting communities.
This long-term study concluded that 7% of Catholic priests sexually abused boys... and shockingly, nuns were involved in abuse also.

“The commission found, between January 1980 and February 2015, there were 4,444 victims of alleged sex abuse.
From three separate data surveys and witness testimonies, the commission found 7% of priests belonging to 75 Catholic Church authorities were alleged perpetrators.
The average age of victims at the time of abuse was 10.5 for girls and 11.6 for boys.
At least 1,880 alleged perpetrators were identified, according to the commission.
Of the alleged perpetrators, 32% were religious brothers, 30% were priests, 29% were lay people and 5% were religious sisters.
Within religious orders, the frequency was higher. Over 40% of St John of God Brothers were accused of abuse. The Order set up schools for boys with learning difficulties in the Australian states of New South Wales and Victoria, as well as New Zealand.
It is universal. I know priests whose parishes have schools. The priests never set foot in the building. There are people all over the place who get on the phone to the bishop if the priest talks “too long” to one of the children.
These pro-sodomy priests will get nowhere with their whining. You can tell: The only place they get any attention is in the National Schismatic Distorter.
In the United States, this is ancient history. No bishop is moving abusers from parish to parish.
After paying out $3 Billion, even the bishops finally got the message.
Wows! I see. A real shame. Most priests are good men and could really help the kids -indeed this is a major reason or expectation for sending kids to a church school -— but no priest, no adult can help a kid if the adult is afraid to even speak with kids. A big loss
I see you’re all prepared with your cut-and-paste dirt.
Did you even notice that your dirt had nothing to do with the U.S.?

1. I provided a link source as required on FR.
2. I quoted a long-term study with specifics.
3. Though primarily an Australian study, it makes it clear this is a worldwide problems.
4. It is real dirt, and contradicts your claims.
Homosexual priests and bishops who enable them are insulting to God.
It remains to be seen whether the abuse stopped. Homos and pedis are constantly on the hunt.
A shame it took money to begin resolving the tragedy.
From a very liberal newspaper.
Out of touch? Maybe
Crazy? Absolutely :)
I love my church but this had been going on unchecked for forever.
My schizophrenic uncle died about a decade ago. He became schizo while in the seminary at a young age.
My other uncle finally told us after the schizo uncle died that he had written him, letting him know he had been molested by priests.
Even John Paul II just had guys moved around.
I’ve known half a dozen priests from different parishes around me that have been arrested since my teens.
We are not a business that should have worried about bad publicity.
I am glad we are finally taking it seriously.
It’s a good start.
Maybe time to “caucus” Catholic threads.
This is why I want to see more Catholic threads with the “caucus” posting.
Thank-you for that link and God Bless.
Thank-you and God Bless for those words of encouragement.
