A paper sheet with writing in Italian reading "Illigal Posting" covers an anti-Pope Francis poster in central Rome, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017.

He is a false pope who defiles the church.

My wife is a very devout Roman Catholic. She’s also old school devout. She goes to Latin mass and wears the lacy thing on her head.

I was gathering paperwork to take to the tax preparer early this week and asked where her donation statement to the diocese was. “I didn’t donate any money this year.”

That my Freeper friends blew my mind. I knew she didn’t like this new pope, but....WOW!

How about “Common sense and logic” argue against the so-called Pope.

I just wonder what the first Pope would think of this one for siding with the Palestinians who want to run Jews off their own God-given land.

I wonder many things about this Pope, and he certainly has produced new insights, which is good. I just am not certain that it is prudent or charitable to voice many of them ever.

Why does this qualify as news? Everyone should expect the Argentinian Inquisition.

They should’ve been all over the 95 Theses like that. LOL

If Pope Francis completes his slow journey toward submission to Islam, do we need to follow him? /s

“and he certainly has produced new insights, which is good.”

And which new insights are good?

I have a new appreciation of certain phrases in Lumen Gentium 25. I have a greater appreciation of the multifaceted relationship between the Pope and the Liturgy—teacher, guardian, exemplar—three distinct roles.

These are good new insights for me, which are passed on to my students. Pope Francis was the occasion of them (the insights, that is). For that I am grateful.

I have had to dig deeper in making certain acts of faith and hope.

It wouldn’t suprise me if Francis himself has also had some good insights that are new, but I can’t think of any off hand at the moment. I suppose that is what you are after. Maybe it is because I hit my head today slipping on ice.

Be grateful for what you can find to be grateful for.

I’m doing the same thing as your wife. My charity will be otherwise directed. I am especially sitting out on the Cardinal’s Appeal in which Ai always participate.

Btw...”Lacey thing on her head”. Love it!

May I make a suggestion? Encourage your wife to write a check to one of your local Catholic grade schools. Actually write, “St. John Catholic School” on the line, so it can’t be deposited to any other account. These little schools are taking it on the chin on account of the diabolical Pope.

I’d suggest making a donation to a traditional order in honour of Pope Francis. He encourages us to help the despised and the downtrodden—and who is presently more so than they?

Great suggestion...how about doing both? I've been giving to Catholic grade schools near me, as well as to the FSSP. I'm pretty sure the latter isn't high on Pope Francis’s list of favorite groups!
