Episcopalian Priest: Christians Should Promote the Planned Parenthood Abortion Business
LIFE NEWS ^ | Feb 1, 2017 | Micaiah Bilger

Teen Vogue is doing its best to push its pro-abortion agenda on young, impressionable minds.

This week, the magazine ran a column by the Rev. Broderick L. Greer, an Episcopal priest who advocates for abortion. Greer argued that Christians should support women in their decisions to have abortion, rather than judge them.

“And that is where the Church can find its point of entry: in offering people making these decisions every measure of mercy they need to live wise and whole lives,” Greer wrote. “It is the act of looking people in the eye and saying, ‘I trust you. I love you,’ not, ‘My personal religious convictions on this matter should prevent you from seeking out the affordable, safe health care [including abortion] that you need.’”

Greer then says Christians should direct women to Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.

“This act leads people of faith and goodwill to seek out ways in which we can support and elevate organizations that offer life-saving reproductive health care and education to people of all ages, races, socio-economic levels, sexual orientations, and gender identities, especially organizations like Planned Parenthood,” he added.

But the column was riddled with misinformation and half-truths.

Greer began his piece with a debunked statistic about illegal abortion deaths prior to Roe v. Wade.

“It is easy for those of us born after the Roe vs. Wade decision to forget that, eleven years before the ruling, upwards of five thousand women died from having illegal abortions,” he began, citing the pro-abortion group NARAL.

The problem is Dr. Bernard Nathanson, a NARAL founder and abortion practitioner who later became pro-life, said they lied about the numbers.

“We spoke of 5,000 – 10,000 deaths a year…I confess that I knew the figures were totally false and I suppose that others did too if they stopped to think of it. But in the ‘morality’ of our revolution, it was a useful figure, widely accepted, so why go out of our way to correct it with honest statistics?” Nathanson wrote in his book “Aborting America.”

Later, Greer continued: “Supporting the defunding of Planned Parenthood may seem like a noble cause – ‘Save the babies!’ – to anti-choice Christians, but it actually ends up hurting more people than it helps. While this may seem counter-intuitive to people in the anti-choice camp, abortion rates actually fell sharply in the Obama years, debunking the myth that outlawing abortion will somehow decrease abortions.”

What Greer did not mention was that under President Barack Obama, states passed a record number of pro-life laws to help protect babies and moms from abortion. Even the pro-abortion research group the Guttmacher Institute recently admitted that these pro-life laws and efforts were effective in cutting abortion rates.

Nor did he mention that Planned Parenthood’s patient numbers and non-abortion services (cancer screenings, breast exams, pap smears, etc.) are declining rapidly, while its abortion numbers remain fairly steady. This is according to the abortion group’s own reports. He also failed to mention that the defunding efforts would ensure women have access to quality health care by redirecting tax dollars to federally qualified community health centers.

Planned Parenthood destroys the lives of more than 320,000 unborn babies every year and profits off their deaths. It’s also been caught hurting women by covering up sexual abuse of minors and abuse of sex trafficking victims.

Former Planned Parenthood employees also admitted the abortion group pressures women to abort their unborn babies because it makes a profit in doing so.

The pro-life movement is not out to judge women or force them into anything, as Greer implied. While Greer supports just one person in the abortion equation, the woman, many Christian leaders and pastors urge their followers to support both woman and child.

Pro-lifers, both religious and secular, think women and their babies deserve a chance to make their own choices and decisions; they both deserve support, love, trust, honesty and a chance to live their lives. But babies cannot do that if they are aborted.

This vividly brings to mind the word “hell-bent”.

in offering people making these decisions every measure of mercy they need to live wise and whole lives

We who are pro-life acknowledge that the unborn -- who are not consulted in these "decisions" -- deserve "every measure of mercy they need to live."

Period.

The Episcopal Church stopped being Christian years ago.

The GOP should tax abortions out of (near)existence...with the tax to be paid for by the provider.

It would be the ultimate sin tax.

And how could the democrats argue against it...they LOVE taxes. Forever liberals have claimed that they want abortion to be “Safe, legal & RARE!”

Methinks a tax of $2,000 would greatly reduce abortions. The money could be invested to support adoptions and abstinence education!

“It is the act of looking people in the eye and saying, ‘I trust you...”

trust?

when they broke the unique trust between mother and child in the womb. I don’t pretend to know what a woman goes through in deciding to abort a child and I know some who have done so and are working toward healing from their decision they made.

But I don’t simply “trust” anyone, including myself, who make similar poor choices about things.

Just an Episcopalian, not a Christian. GOD is pro-life.

This is a plea/cavil from an English major: it’s “an Episcopal Priest”, not “Episcopalian Priest”.

It’s hard to imagine that there will be many places in Hell deeper and hotter than the places reserved for clergy and “nuns” who write blasphemous sewage like this.

Does your English-major brain say “redundancy” when someone says “Episcopal bishop”?

Well...it would...but I don’t make up the rules for the ECUSA...it is the Episcopal Church in America...its bishops are Episcopal Bishops, NOT “Episcopalian Bishops”.

Pro-lifers, both religious and secular, think women and their babies deserve a chance to make their own choices and decisions; they both deserve support, love, trust, honesty and a chance to live their lives. But babies cannot do that if they are aborted.

These women also deserve something Planned Parenthood and the anti-life forces repeatedly fail to do and that is to give these women and girls a thorough and unbiased education about the development of the unborn child, what abortion actually entails and the real cost - physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Forever liberals have claimed that they want abortion to be “Safe, legal & RARE!”

That always got me when Bill Clinton used to make that statement. I thought, if abortion was just another procedure a woman could get like dental care - and not the actual killing of a human life - then why should they want it to be "rare"? Safe, legal, okay, I understand that but why rare? Of course I know the reason is they have to at least pretend to care about that unborn life. In reality, they must ignore what abortion is.

Abortion is never safe. When done properly it always leaves one dead...and one wounded for life.
