A Christian computer expert claims the world will end this month when Jesus will return to destroy the planet.
Nora Roth says she has performed complex calculations and backs up her claims in a 6,000 word blog post on her Mark of the Beast website.
According to the claims from Roth, who describes herself as a Bible student, Jesus will guide his people to heaven before leaving the planet sterile for 1,000 years.
Bible
The calculations have been based on an excerpt from the Bibles Book of Daniel, which says that Seventy sevens are decreed [ ] to put an end to sin.
Ms Roth wrote: Are 6,000 years of sin almost over? Will Jesus come in 2016? The Bible presents enlightening, logical, and compelling answers to these questions. In short, yes!
The 70 sevens prophecy in Daniel 9:24 has two fulfillments. First, the 70 sevens are 70 sabbatical cycles 490 years, pointing to the first coming of Jesus as our Savior from sin.
Sin
Second, the 70 sevens are 70 Jubilee cycles 3,431 years, pointing to the second coming of Jesus when His people will be permanently freed from sin.
In the fall of 2016 the 6,000 years of sin on earth will come to an end, everlasting righteousness will be brought in, and Jesus will come again.
The computer scientist, who says she has worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst, said it was most important for people to give themselves entirely to God right now.
She added: Now is the time to seek God, while He may be found. Now is the time to repent. Today is the day to choose to receive Jesus Christ fully and to abide in Him.
Before or after Christmas? Because I haven’t got my shopping done yet and I need to know if I should bother.
No one actually knows what Jesus is or was. For one, he was changed by the resurrection, as were the rules of the game. Also, we do not know all the mysteries of the Almighty: "But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. - Rev. 10:7
It's easy to see why many people are turned off by "organized religion" because once a people organized around a belief, the pursuit of truth often interferes with the needs of those in charge to maintain a status quo.
One thing scripture makes perfectly clear though, is that pursuit of truth/reasoning is a far greater desire for us of the Almighty than maintaining some status quo (i.e, organized religion). You only have to read the four gospels and the teachings of Yeshua (Jesus) and how they contradicted the organized beliefs of his day to realize this is true.
“According to the claims from Roth, who describes herself as a Bible student, Jesus will guide his people to heaven before leaving the planet sterile for 1,000 years.”
Well, Jesus doesn’t return until AFTER the tribulation period, which has not begun yet, so this lady has failed at basic Biblical reading comprehension, which is a prerequisite before you start doing any dating calculations.
I’m sure he checked with God and made sure he had his dates right..
Not in my society. Pun intended I presume. ;)
“It is true, the Lord could come for his church at any moment.”
The Lord can take any individual believer at any moment, but not the church, since Jesus told us (recorded in Matthew chapter 24) that Christ does not return, and the church is not gathered to him, until “Immediately after the tribulation of those days...”. So until the tribulation begins (and ends), there is no chance that the church is going to be taken away.
Most definitely.
...and 3 X 8 = 24.
...and 3 X 8 = 24.
Well, I rechecked my calculations and found out she was 100 years too late. HE did it about 100 years ago, but nobody noticed.
Crackpot.
So there you have it. The new Air Force 1 aircraft should be built on a Boeing 777!
She needs to study her Bible more and her calculations less. Another Harold Camping.
“I was always under the impression that a Jewish generation was 40 years.”
It was until about 1988, then the date-setters had to find another way to define it or they would have had to get new jobs :)
I'd say "when you LEAST expect it", as Yeshua mentions in both the gospels and in Revelation. That could mean sooner rather than later.
"But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into."
HAHAHAHAHAHA! That’s brilliant!!
I have no idea what you're saying here but good luck with that one.
Is there a consensus?
I agree with you to a point. However, I believe we’re talking about the general time of the second coming here and I think this is her main intent, not the actual “day of the Lord”, though I would not rule that out either, as no one knows that day and I believe it will come when we LEAST expect it - per Yeshua. This said and thinking out loud, what irony if it does arrive this very Christmas...
