Queen Elizabeth II has held a historic meeting with Kirill, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, who is on an official visit to the UK to mark the 300th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox Church’s presence there.
The meeting was held Tuesday behind closed doors in Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s official residence in London, and lasted for about a half-hour, the Patriarch's secretary, Alexander Volkov, said.
“Patriarch Kirill told the Queen about the revival of the Church in Russia in the past 20 years, the construction of churches, the development of theological science, the growing number of dioceses, and in general about the spiritual growth in Russia,” Volkov said.
The discussion between the Patriarch and the Queen was also “devoted to the position of Christians in Europe,” he said, adding that “the Patriarch is very enthusiastic about the results of this meeting.”
“I am very pleased with the [results of] this meeting and I must say that I did not expect it to… take place in such an atmosphere and at such active level as it did,” the Patriarch told journalists during a press conference at Luton Airport, near London.

I know for Putin it’s for propaganda purposes and he is smart enough to know a religious society thrives and uses it to his advantage.
But it’s still incredible.

Even the Chinese Communists learned that destroying one's own traditional culture makes a country (and its government) weaker, not stronger. I have no idea if Putin is a Christian, but I am certain he is absolutely sincere about promoting Orthodox Christianity's position and influence in Russia as a matter of national security against its perceived enemies.

Even in my youth, when I had doubts about my faith, i ALWAYS knew that WE NEEDED Christianity to stay strong in this country.
Now that my faith is much stronger, it is heartbreaking to read that atheism is the fastest growing belief.
I hope that trend changes.

The lamestream media TOLD you that "atheism is the fastest growing belief." Since when do you believe the lamesteam media? How did they get their statistics? Did they do some phony poll? Did they see a few statistics on some church attendance? The lamestream media is FULL OF BALONEY.
The Protestants have no centralized leader to whom poll takers could go to for statistics. So any "count" the media might have is random...and WITHOUT DOUBT negative about Protestant attendance.
Remember, Protestants have NO duty about Sunday church attendance, not even for Easter or Christmas, no attendance duties whatsoever. No holy days, no fasts, abstaining, no tithing, nothing. They are even free to interpret the Word of God ANY WAY they choose. They can marry/divorce/remarry all they want. Henry VIII had six wives. Liz Taylor had seven husbands. I wonder how THAT is following the words of Jesus. [Rhetorical.]
The Catholic Church, however, has local bishops who might report to other dioceses about attendance so there could be some meaningful statistics there.
But truly, no one entity has a CLUE...
Besides you KNOW that the media NEVER have ANYTHING POSITIVE to say about religion. They ESPECIALLY mock the Catholic Church and evangelicals. NOTHING new.
Our Church was founded by Jesus. It will not fail because HE can not fail.
