Catholic ping!
Most of his fellow Bishops are not down with smaller and holier.
Collection basket pain is going to drive them to bigger and more liberal I fear.
Headline by RNS very misleading. A rimfire on the thrust of the article.
In the article...
Chaputs main focus, however, was on the wider threat posed by what he said was a secularizing culture and a progressive political agenda that bleaches out strong religious convictions in the name of liberal tolerance.
DUH.
Now you’re talking, Archy!
Can we get a new pope

Amen! We all make our own choices. My choice is to stand with Jesus and I’m confident that on the last day He will remember those who do stand with Him. Those who want to leave are free to. I will continue to pray for them but that is all anyone can do.
I’ve always believed the Church, sadly, may have to shrink. Before long, society and governments may even force it to return to the catacombs and house churches.
I was recently in Germany and visited the Cologne Cathedral. It took 600 years to build (with some very long breaks in between). Imagine that - through all that time and history, a Christian/Catholic people united in one project for 600 years. Absolutely impossible in today’s society.
Amen to that! Chaput or Burke for Pope!
Lib Gibson cites something called “traditional orthodoxy.” Is there an UN-traditional kind?
can Catholics make their own churches?....can we start like most protestant non denominational churches and meet in old abandoned store fronts until we gather enough to build an actual church?...
Yeah, hubby’s been expecting a ‘shake-out’ for several years. If Hillary loses, I expect many ‘social justice Catholics to finally give up the ghost, and either leave religion, or be honest and join the Episcopalians.
It's surprising but refreshing that Chaput went after Biden and Kaine by name. They obscenely wave their false Catholicism around as a tool to enhance their political fortunes, and their obvious phoniness and anti-Catholic, anti-life views should be explicitly attacked, frontally and forcefully.
(Maybe that was why Biden started getting goofy in his speech today, wanting to take Trump "behind the gym". We don't know if he meant to fight him, or if he had something else in mind (see below), but either way, it does not seem to reflect a sincere Christian attitude.)

Benedict XVI said the same and I agree.
