Brian Burch
President, CatholicVote.org
P.O. Box 259837
Madison, WI 53725

October 1, 2016

Mr. Burch,

Thank you for writing me on the critical issue of religious freedom and the growing concerns of Catholic voters. Like you, I understand the many ways this issue impacts millions of Americans, especially those cared for by Catholic hospitals and charities or students educated in successful Catholic schools today. Religious freedom is our First Freedom, and it must be respected.

Our current president has not respected American’s First Amendment rights. Many believe he has declared a war on Catholics. And my opponent promises to be even worse!

I grew up in New York City. I have tremendous respect for the role of the Catholic Church in helping build New York, as well as other cities and communities across the country. Dedicated Catholic priests and religious leaders have built hospitals, schools, churches and charities while Catholic workers helped build our roads and bridges and started countless thriving businesses.

As President, I promise that I will protect the rights of Catholics to live their faith, to serve their communities, and to act on their beliefs without fear. This approach one would think is just common sense. And I don’t care if people call it politically incorrect.

The priorities that the next President will need to establish are not known at this time. Protection of the nation and its citizens must come first. Getting the economy back on track must be near the top of the list. Preserving and protecting the rights of our citizens must also be in the mix. If Congress considers legislation such as the First Amendment Defense Act or the Conscience Protection Act a priority, then I will do all I can to make sure it comes to my desk for signature and enactment.

Very respectfully,
Donald J. Trump

Went to an all girl Catholic School. Kennedy was campaigning in Town and we all got a hat and were bussed to a site.

Meanwhile, in school, we were told that all catholics should vote for Kennedy because as a Catholic, he was better than any other candidate. I objected and given detention for a week.

Told my parents what happened and my dad filled me in on Joe the boot legger and John the male wh***.

I thnk God for good and honest parents.

Ditto for my Catholic school. My family were all democrats and still are, except for me. It’s like they’re wearing blinders.

I went to Catholics schools, K-12.
We never got even a whiff of politics. Of course, I'm probably older that most here.

I do recall one nun, Sister Marguerite, my religion teacher. She didn't like me. I wasn't really any better/worse than anyone else. Who knows.
Once, when returning from lunch, I had really pink cheeks from all the running around outside. It was high school but I still ran around outside. That was who I was.
When we returned from lunch she looked at me and told me to go wash the ROUGE off my cheeks. Hah, as if my father would have allowed me to wear ANY makeup at fourteen.
So I went to the bathroom and SCRUBBED my cheeks...and came back with even PINKER cheeks. She didn't say a word.

Once she held a raffle for something and the FIRST prize was three excuses from religion homework. Guess who won? Lol.
OF COURSE, I chose the longest, worst homework assignments to use an excuse. OF COURSE, I didn't smirk while I did it.

Ah, fond memories.

The Catholic education DID waltz me STRAIGHT into college English 1A whilst all the public school students, even SOME of the "elite" school students, had to do SOME bonehead English.
Hey, that made me SMILE!

Ah, fond memories.

Between the 3 of us, I'm sure we can provide sufficient entertainment on this forum for a long time. My 2nd grade teacher did not like me. One day, I raised my hand to go to the bathroom and she told me to sit down. I really had to go ... but no. Much to her chagrin, her 'no' resulted in an embarrassing mess. I feared my 7th grade teacher so much that I developed shingles! Those commercials that describe the pain of shingles are true.

If you've never read it, GET THIS BOOK! You will laugh 'til your sides ache.

A colleague of mine, in her 40's at the time, had shingles.
I didn't care much for her but did pity her for the pain. I guess she's "done" her time in purgatory, right here on earth.

From Google: Shingles are caused by the varicella zoster virus. Shingles usually appears in a band, a strip, or a small area on one side of the face or body. It is also called herpes zoster. Shingles is most common in older adults and people who have weak immune systems because of stress, injury, certain medicines, or other reasons.

Stress is a body killer, isn't it?
I never had to deal with it because I played sports. And if I had even a soupçon of stress BEFORE I played, it was gone 100% in nothing flat.

I used to drive a stick shift and after I played for an hour+ my left leg would TREMBLE as I pressed the clutch to the bottom. Lol. THAT was hard playing.
