A Rapture, of Sorts?

A Rapture, of Sorts?

Disclaimer: First things first. I do not believe in what some people call a pre tribulation rapture and I’ve discovered that there is no *seven year tribulation, ergo, no mid tribulation anything.

But there is a return and that I can write about.

Second the word rapture does not appear in the Bible so let me find a word that is there...

Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

Took:

לָקַח

לָקַח lâqach, law-kakh'; a primitive root; to take (in the widest variety of applications):—accept, bring, buy, carry away, drawn, fetch, get, infold, × many, mingle, place, receive(-ing), reserve, seize, send for, take (away, -ing, up), use, win.

Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

בָּאֱמוּנָה לֻקַּח חֲנוֹךְ

Same word laqach English: translated

Shift: Now Yeshua was keen to throw people off the trail from time to time, for instance.

John 6:53 Then Yeshua said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.

Well, anyone can tell you that scenario is not kosher at anyones table, clearly a metaphor.

Now this one is one of the best ‘fork in the road’ statements He ever delivered.

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

And here’s an interesting fact about this statement, Yeshua actually narrowed it down when He said this!

The keys to unlocking scripture lies in the rituals, for instance.

Honey is an ingredient for Rosh Hashanah dishes, honey cake, apples dipped in honey etc.

So when you read: Revelation 10:10 Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter.

This tells me the new year will start off sweet but will turn bitter soon afterwards.

Same thing with the ‘no man knows the day or the hour’ statement.

Now I’ve heard many ‘rapture teachers’ state that ‘the rapture can take place at any time’

This could not be further from the truth.

The day no man knows, is an idiom for Rosh Hashanah and it’s a festival that this phrase fits perfectly. Anywhere in the world it’s one of two days, ergo...

Here’s some examples of the importance of the Feasts of the LORD

25 Kislev 3756 - Chanukah / Conception of Yeshua

15 Tishri 3757 - Sukkot / Birth of Yeshua

15 Nisan 3790 - (30 C.E.) Pesach / Crucifixion of Yeshua

For reference go to your main library and see Encyclopedia Judaica, Jesus died 30 C.E.

Big Notice! Rosh Hashanah takes place on the new moon and it lasts two days. But there are other two day new moon festivals that take place during the year.

Bamidbar (Numbers)10:10 Also at your times of rejoicing--your appointed feasts and New Moon festivals--you are to sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, and they will be a memorial for you before your God. I am HaShem your God."

Now there are a few words you should pay attention to, trumpets, new moons, wedding celebrations, etc...

Torah Readings

Each week in synagogue, we read (or, more accurately, chant, because it is sung) a passage from the Torah...

In the synagogue service, the weekly parshah is followed by a passage from the prophets, which is referred to as a haftarah.

http://www.jewfaq.org/readings.htm

Yeshua read the haftarah See: Luke 4:16-30

This section is read for Shabbat Machar Chodesh and it’s the one we’re interested in.

1 Samuel 20:18 Then Jonathan said to David, “Tomorrow is the New Moon; and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty. 19 And when you have stayed three days, go down quickly and come to the place where you hid on the day of the deed; and remain by the stone Ezel. 20 Then I will shoot three arrows to the side, as though I shot at a target; 21 and there I will send a lad, saying, ‘Go, find the arrows.’ If I expressly say to the lad, ‘Look, the arrows are on this side of you; get them and come’—then, as the Lord lives, there is safety for you and no harm. 22 But if I say thus to the young man, ‘Look, the arrows are beyond you’—go your way, for the Lord has sent you away. 23 And as for the matter which you and I have spoken of, indeed the Lord be between you and me forever.”

24 Then David hid in the field. And when the New Moon had come, the king sat down to eat the feast. 25 Now the king sat on his seat, as at other times, on a seat by the wall. And Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul’s side, but David’s place was empty. 26 Nevertheless Saul did not say anything that day, for he thought, “Something has happened to him; he is unclean, surely he is unclean.” 27 And it happened the next day, the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty. And Saul said to Jonathan his son, “Why has the son of Jesse not come to eat, either yesterday or today?”

28 So Jonathan answered Saul, “David earnestly asked permission of me to go to Bethlehem. 29 And he said, ‘Please let me go, for our family has a sacrifice in the city, and my brother has commanded me to be there. And now, if I have found favor in your eyes, please let me get away and see my brothers.’ Therefore he has not come to the king’s table.”

30 Then Saul’s anger was aroused against Jonathan, and he said to him, “You son of a perverse, rebellious woman! Do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame and to the shame of your mother’s nakedness? 31 For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, you shall not be established, nor your kingdom. Now therefore, send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die.”

32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him, “Why should he be killed? What has he done?” 33 Then Saul cast a spear at him to kill him, by which Jonathan knew that it was determined by his father to kill David.

34 So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and ate no food the second day of the month, for he was grieved for David, because his father had treated him shamefully.

35 And so it was, in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad was with him. 36 Then he said to his lad, “Now run, find the arrows which I shoot.” As the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him. 37 When the lad had come to the place where the arrow was which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried out after the lad and said, “Is not the arrow beyond you?” 38 And Jonathan cried out after the lad, “Make haste, hurry, do not delay!” So Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows and came back to his master. 39 But the lad did not know anything. Only Jonathan and David knew of the matter. 40 Then Jonathan gave his weapons to his lad, and said to him, “Go, carry them to the city.”

41 As soon as the lad had gone, David arose from a place toward the south, fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down three times. And they kissed one another; and they wept together, but David more so. 42 Then Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, since we have both sworn in the name of the Lord, saying, ‘May the Lord be between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants, forever.’” So he arose and departed, and Jonathan went into the city.

This is the critical section:

Then Jonathan said to David, “Tomorrow is the New Moon; and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty. 19 And when you have stayed three days, go down quickly and come to the place where you hid on the day of the deed; and remain by the stone Ezel.

Hebrew names have definitions and Ezel means...

‏Ezel אֶזֶל

Ezel = "departure"
a memorial stone between Ramah and Nob; scene of final farewell between David and Jonathan

New Moon, Three Days, Departure

John 2:1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

My hour has not yet come, what does that mean?

Wedding hour?

A solar eclipse can only take place at the phase of new moon, when the moon passes directly between the sun and Earth and its shadows fall ... blah blah blah

Diamond ring effect. noun, Astronomy. 1. a phenomenon, sometimes observed immediately before and after a total eclipse of the sun, in which one of Baily's beads is much brighter than the others, resembling a diamond ring around the moon.

And diamond rings are used in Weddings! Is the picture becoming clearer?

and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.

NIV Romans 1:17
For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

NIV Romans 15:7-12
7. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
8. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God's truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs
9. so that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to your name."
10. Again, it says, "Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people."
11. And again, "Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and sing praises to him, all you peoples."
12. And again, Isaiah says, "The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him."

NIV Romans 15:21
Rather, as it is written: "Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand."

NIV 1 Corinthians 1:19
For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."

NIV 1 Corinthians 1:31
Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."

NIV 1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" --

NIV 1 Corinthians 3:19-20
19. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness" ;
20. and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."

NIV 1 Corinthians 4:6
Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another.

NIV 1 Corinthians 9:9
For it is written in the Law of Moses: "Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain." Is it about oxen that God is concerned?

NIV 1 Corinthians 10:7
Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: "The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry."

NIV 1 Corinthians 10:11
These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.

NIV 1 Corinthians 14:21
In the Law it is written: "Through men of strange tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me," says the Lord.

NIV 1 Corinthians 15:45
So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being" ; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.

NIV 1 Corinthians 15:54
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."

NIV 2 Corinthians 1:13-14
13. For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand. And I hope that,
14. as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus.

NIV 2 Corinthians 4:13-14
13. it is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak,
14. because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence.

NIV 2 Corinthians 8:15
as it is written: "He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little."

NIV Galatians 3:10
All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."

NIV Galatians 3:13
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."

NIV Galatians 4:22
For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman.

NIV Galatians 4:27
For it is written: "Be glad, O barren woman, who bears no children; break forth and cry aloud, you who have no labor pains; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband."

NIV Hebrews 10:7
Then I said, `Here I am-- it is written about me in the scroll-- I have come to do your will, O God.'"

NIV 1 Peter 1:15-16
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."

NIV 2 Peter 3:16
He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

NIV 1 John 2:12-14
12. I write to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.
13. I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you have known the Father.
14. I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

- People will stop eating meat

There is a VERY large group of these 'people' out west; that SHOULD not be eating MEAT in the summertime!

But most of them ignore that part of their scriptures... Verses 12-13

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 89

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, February 27, 1833. HC 1: 327–329. As a consequence of the early brethren using tobacco in their meetings, the Prophet was led to ponder upon the matter; consequently he inquired of the Lord concerning it. This revelation, known as the Word of Wisdom, was the result. The first three verses were originally written as an inspired introduction and description by the Prophet.

1–9, Use of wine, strong drinks, tobacco, and hot drinks proscribed; 10–17, Herbs, fruits, flesh, and grain are ordained for the use of man and of animals; 18–21, Obedience to gospel law, including the Word of Wisdom, brings temporal and spiritual blessings.

1 A aWord OF Wisdom, for the benefit of the council of high priests, assembled in Kirtland, and the church, and also the saints in Zion—
2 To be sent greeting; not by commandment or constraint, but by revelation and the aword of wisdom, showing forth the order and bwill of God in the temporal salvation of all saints in the last days—
3 Given for a principle with apromise, adapted to the capacity of the bweak and the weakest of all csaints, who are or can be called saints.
4 Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of aevils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of bconspiring men in the last days, I have cwarned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation—
5 That inasmuch as any man adrinketh bwine or strong drink among you, behold it is not good, neither meet in the sight of your Father, only in assembling yourselves together to offer up your sacraments before him.
6 And, behold, this should be wine, yea, apure wine of the grape of the vine, of your own make.
7 And, again, astrong drinks are not for the belly, but for the washing of your bodies.
8 And again, tobacco is not for the abody, neither for the belly, and is not good for man, but is an herb for bruises and all sick cattle, to be used with judgment and skill.
9 And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly.
10 And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome aherbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—
11 Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with aprudence and bthanksgiving.
  12 Yea, aflesh also of bbeasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used csparingly;
13 And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be aused, only in times of winter, or of cold, or bfamine.
  14 All agrain is ordained for the use of man and of beasts, to be the staff of life, not only for man but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth;
15 And athese hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger.
16 All grain is good for the afood of man; as also the bfruit of the vine; that which yieldeth fruit, whether in the ground or above the ground—
17 Nevertheless, wheat for man, and corn for the ox, and oats for the horse, and rye for the fowls and for swine, and for all beasts of the field, and barley for all useful animals, and for mild drinks, as also other grain.
  18 And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, ashall receive bhealth in their navel and marrow to their bones;
  19 And shall afind bwisdom and great ctreasures of dknowledge, even hidden treasures;
20 And shall arun and not be bweary, and shall walk and not faint.
21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the adestroying angel shall bpass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.

What's for dinner?

D&C 49:18-19

18 And whoso forbiddeth to abstain from meats, that man should not eat the same, is not ordained of God;
19 For, behold, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and that which cometh of the earth, is ordained for the use of man for food and for raiment, and that he might have in
abundance.

D&C 89:12-13

12 Yea, flesh also of beasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used sparingly;
13 And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine.

It must be tough; being a Mormon.   Having to face Scripture that state two opposing ideas and somehow managing to believe BOTH of them!  It's no WONDER that Utah leads in Prozac usage!

D&C 49:15-16

15 And again, verily I say unto you, that whoso aforbiddeth to marry is not ordained of God, for bmarriage is ordained of God unto man.

 16 Wherefore, it is lawful that he should have one awife, and they twain shall be bone flesh, and all this that the cearth might answer the end of its creation;

After a slight bump in the road; it appears that they ARE getting THIS right now!

Well; them that ignore OTHER Mormon scripture.

Yes; multiple wives came along LATER in SCRIPTURE.

No; scripture does NOT contain any later revelation going back to one wife again.

This ‘great tribulation’ is not a flesh and blood war.

Those who end up headless during this time might disagree.

Shiz could be an exception though...

This ‘great tribulation’ is not a flesh and blood war. The tribulation is mass deception.

Mass deception??? The only mass deception will be that you will think the anti-Christ is Jesus himself...There will be billions of people killed, in horrendous ways...

The Scripture doesn’t discuss any premill rapture. A host of writers, Gary DeMarr to name just one, has gone through the Left Behind eschatology and shopwn it to be heretical.

The doctrine isn’t based on Scripture, and the arguments I’ve seen on FR on the subject remind of the arguments of the Arminians, which essentially amount to endlessly repeating John 3:16.

BTW, my church does teach premill dispensationalism and the “Rapture”. Having discussed the matter with seminary professors holding the doctrine, the arguments are not merely thin, they seem to amount to the repetition of the “Flat Earth” myth (Columbus and all that) that academic specialists know is false but that gets repeated throughout academia and the popular media.

Gary DeMarr, among others, has critiqued the Left Behind eschatology in terms non-specialists can readily grasp. Anyone who isn’t threatened by changing his views on eschatology, etc. will find his books a good introduction to an intellectually responsible analysis of the subject.

At the time Paul wrote to Timothy, the crucifixion may have been more than twenty years earlier. The gospels were already written and many of Paul’s letters may have been common reading among gatherings of believers. I suspect Paul was alluding to more than just the Septuagint as ‘the scriptures’, but it is sure that he was considering the Old Testament as the Holy Scriptures, so we know the essentials for the Gospel of Grace were in the Old Testament.

The seven years will begin when the Holy Spirit indwelling believers is taken out of the way. The believer will be taken 'out of the way'.

The Tribulation is at first a gradual rising of lawlessness, culminating in the man of sin standing in the holy place declaring himself to be god. THEN the second half of the Tribulation, The Great Tribulation, will rise, as God's wrath is pour out upon the planet and the living things to be 'cleansed'.

Watch events regarding Jerusalem for the final clues as to the pre-Tribulation departure (the Rapture of believers since the Days of Jesus and the Gospel of Grace). The Restrainer is being gentle with humanity during the Age of God's Grace in Christ Jesus. When the Restrainer is taken out of the way, THEN is the beginning of God's wrath, building by degrees to allow those who will to come into the place of the wedding feast. Taking His Gentle power from among men is the first act of God's building wrath.

And yet Christ said a sign of His coming would be Matthew 24:6, wars and rumors of wars, but not to be troubled, this was NOT the end. Puts a big hole in the rapture doctrine balloon. If one does not know who the antiChrist literally is they are already deceived.

No, it only shows that Jesus taught without making sharp differentiations. To those not taken out of the way in the Rapture, there are specific signs to those left to endure the horrors of the Tribulation.

Please study the Temple Discourse Jesus gave the day He gave the Olivet Discourse on the same day in the late evening. When you catch the clear differences in to whom and on what timing He spoke in these two different Discourses, it becomes clearer that the Rapture must come BEFORE the end times horrors.

Scholars have concluded that a large number escaped the final destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD because of the warning signs Jesus explained/revealed In the Temple Discourse.

The Temple Discourse was heeded by believers (the First Christians) and they escaped during the pause in Vespasian's campaign to sack Jerusalem. The Olivet Discourse as revealed in Matthew and Mark is given as answer to 'the end', which comes during the seven years after the Believers, the Body of Christ, The Bride of Christ is taken out of the way.

HINT: to start differentiating the two Discourses, notice the ‘before these things’ and ‘after these things’ designations Jesus made in the separate Discourses.

I’m kinda stuck reading what a group of OTHER folks have told me what the bible translates into English.

I'm sure your priest won't steer you wrong. Just say some "Hail Mary"s and listen to him.

“A host of writers, Gary DeMarr to name just one, has gone through the Left Behind eschatology and shopwn it to be heretical.”

They have simply presented arguments they believe. That only means they have a different opinion.

Why would you believe he is the authority in this matter? I can show you equally or more highly educated people on the other side that believe the opposite - including me. I have Christian friends on *multiple* sides of these eschatological issues. We simply hold different views. Each of us are educated and studied and sincere seekers of truth.
