Pope Francis has lamented that children are being taught at school that gender can be a choice, adding that his predecessor, Benedict XVI has labeled current times 'the epoch of sin against God the Creator'.
Francis weighed in with his view on gender and what he said was that of the emeritus pontiff while meeting privately last week with bishops from Poland during his pilgrimage there.
The pope said he wanted to conclude his remarks by reflecting on this: 'We are living a moment of annihilation of man as image of God.'
Francis said: 'Today, in schools they are teaching this to children -- to children! -- that everyone can choose their gender.'
Without specifying, he blamed this on textbooks supplied by 'persons and institutions who donate money.' The pope blamed what he called 'ideological colonizing' backed by 'very influential countries' which he didn't identify, adding 'this is terrible.'
The 'colonization' theme is one he has railed against before, including during an Asian pilgrimage in 2015.
This time, though, he volunteered that he has discussed the gender issue with Benedict, who has lived at the Vatican since retiring in 2013.
'Speaking with Pope Benedict, who is well, and has a clear mind, he was telling me: 'Holiness, this is the epoch of sin against God the Creator.' He's intelligent! God created man and woman, God created the world this way, this way, this way, and we are doing the opposite,' Francis told the Polish bishops Wednesday shortly after his arrival in Krakow at the start of a five-day pilgrimage.
Francis' ended by telling the Polish bishops he wanted them to reflect on this: 'We must think about what Pope Benedict said -- "It's the epoch of sin against God the Creator".'

LOL.....I knew there was a sub-plot to this and it's a two-fer!
Firstly, he said it in Poland to the Polish bishops and for good measure and dramatic effect, he unfolded the perfect stage prop for that particular audience; a ventriloquist's dummy of Pope Benedict which started spewing old BXVI quotes, always a favorite of the conservative Polish episcopate.
Francis is very aware of the "rigid" people who oppose his "merciful" agenda so what better time to surprise them and burnish one's papal bona fides with a bit of anti-zetgeist rhetoric than in a meeting with some of one's most implacable critics. In front of a conservative audience, Francis the chameleon suddenly turns into a Benedict-quoting culture warrior! I believe this is called "preaching to the choir".
I'd feel much less cynical about this if he stood up in St.Peter's Square and said it at a Wednesday general audience. When a Pope saying something sensible is big news, it tells you how far things have gone downhill.

Still waiting for him to comment about the destruction of the Catholic Church in Ireland, where last year the Catholic voters in Ireland voted for homosexual “marriage”. He has never mentioned the results of the disgrace to the Church. The vote was a direct reflection of the worthless Irish bishops and not following the faith and never speaking about marriage and family.
Wrong, at least to this extent: he speaks strongly from an Argentinian perspective. Argentinians are not “darkies.” At 97% white, mostly Spanish and Italian, they are almost as racially homogeneous as Icelanders.
He would make a darn good American politician.
Yes. Assisting at Mass onSunday is everyone’s obligation, even those in “irregular situations” or, worse yet, mortal sin. Yes, those in mortal sin are still obliged to obey the laws which Christ teaches us through His Church.
Mind-boggling, is it not?

Read some of those links. It's the real thing.
I think many times folks hear ‘this person can’t receive communion because of x situation’ and they translate that to ‘this person is barred from attending and being part of the church community!’ But in reality they are actually obligated to attend, no matter the state they happen to be in, or even if it can’t be resolved presently or whatever. Yet this is usually never pointed out in media stories about situations or actions that require abstaining from Communion.

I clicked on the first link out of interest. It's from LifeSite News and is dated 3-13-13.
The first line runs as follows:

That's where I started laughing. Ahhhhh.....the honeymoon days of the Francis pontificate! Such innocence! In view of all the water that's gone under the bridge in the last 3-plus years, I wonder if John-Henry Westen still thinks of Francis in such glowing terms? Especially since that particular publication has been at the forefront of exposing all the craziness and heterodoxy.......
Francis speaks of these things occasionally. That list covers three entire years so it's not all that long when the time factor is taken into account. It's certainly not a daily topic of allocution, unlike his favorite issues.
