Tbilisi, June 10, Interfax - The Georgian Orthodox Church will not participate in the Pan-Orthodox Council in Crete which is slated for June 16-27.
"This decision was adopted during today's session of the Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church in which the Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia participated," the report of the Georgian Patriarchate said.
Ilia II said in February that the Holy Synod rejected the document 'The relation of the Orthodox Church towards the rest of the Christian world' which was prepared for discussion at the Pan-Orthodox Council.
The Synod also opposed a number of other documents prepared for the Council.

At this point, the only pans who might show up are Peter, fry, and the guy with the pipes.
If the Orthodox cannot join together in Christian unity, who can?

What if the Orthodox held a council and no one came?

Assuming, as appears to be case, that there is no urgent need for a Council, then I'd say the Holy Spirit may well be at work here. We shall see what comes of this. My guess is that there will eventually be a meeting of some kind. But not until some serious issues are addressed. Antioch has very real and legitimate grievances with one of its sister churches and some of the proposed documents are seriously flawed in their wording. Other concerns raised seem rather trivial to me. But IMHO those two are going to have to be addressed before this thing goes forward. A short delay of six months or so to allow for fixes does not seem unreasonable.
