No, that is not the first to pay with a chip implanted in the hand.

It first happened to the best of my knowledge at the Baja Beach Club in Barcelona, Spain. I first read about it in Alex Jones prisonplanet on April 7, 2004. Since that has always been a questionable site to me, at that time it was confirmed by the Barcelona Beach Club website, later discontinued. Then it was implemented in another club in Europe.

It was picked up by the Guardian on June 9, 2004 and the BBC on September 29, 2004.

That was 16 years ago now which is a very long time as far as technological developments are concerned.
