What you say is the real sad part. Even sadder is the fact that very few are awake to the hidden poison of throwing out or rather changing the Ten Commandments the way they like. The Ten Commandments are explained very well by the Church and summarized very well in the Catechism of the Catholic Church for adults. Few Catholics want this book because they want to interpret the Bible the way they want Christianity without the cross, and still convince themselves that “I’m OK”!
God does not send people to hell. People who invented the “truth” (small “t”) all their lives, when they die and when they see the Truth (big “T”) Who is God, they choose the only other place that exists for all eternity, where there is not God. That place is called Hell!

That is a pretty funny statement there from a Catholic. How about the Commandment to keep the Sabbath day holy? The Sabbath day, you remember that don't you? The seventh day of the week. Luke 4:16 tells us Jesus had a custom of worshiping on the Sabbath Day. Are we to do the same? Exodus 20:8 starts off with Remember the Sabbath as if people would forget it. Hidden poison indeed.

(The Truth Shall Set You Free (Jn 8:32)!)

I recall that earlier in his gospel, John had written about a direct question Jesus was asked.

He also recorded the answer.

I've always assumed it to be the TRUTH.

John 6:28-29

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

The Ten Commandments are explained very well by the Church

You mean the way it "explains" Genesis 1-11, Esther, Daniel, and Jonah (myths, metaphors, primitive ideas of primitive people)?

Catholics who want the Middle Ages with evolution are going to be disappointed. All this demythologization that the Catholic Church has gleefully participated in for a hundred years has led to the current crisis, and you cannot end the crisis while keeping the irreverent attitude towards the Written Word of G-d.
