WHOA!
Nothing in Catholic theology claims that the Pope is a "a man ... free from error in faith and morals"!!
The claim is that, if he teaches something definitively, as to be held by the whole church under pain of heresy, then that teaching will be preserved from error by the Holy Spirit. It's a claim about his teaching, not about the man himself.
NO Pope has ever been personally "free from error in ... morals". Some of them have been big sinners. Some have been little sinners. All of them have been sinners.
More wordplay from the Catholics. Every word this man utters in public is teaching and every action he does is teaching. People see it and hear it and think "well that's what I need to do or think". To try and protect your denomination and this man with "He wasn't speaking ex-cathedra so it doesn't matter". If that's the case he needs to take a vow of silence until he has something to say worth saying. The whole life of Jesus was teaching in every word and deed. If the Pope were actually "the vicar of Christ", he would do the same. You may as well have Satan as Pope if you're going to play word games on what is teaching and what is not.
Does PETER or another pope that followed him get the BLAME for the bad TEACHING that Rome has recorded in Revelation.
Those 7 CATHOLIC churches in Asia were really messed up.
CAn't be the Prots; can it...
