... the Torah system of the endless sacrifices of bulls and goats is replaced with the Catholic system of the endless sacrifices of the Mass, and priestly confession, and other sacraments, because no one can truly live up to the Catholic standard just as no one could live up to the Levitical standard.
>>>...Torah system of the endless sacrifices of bulls and goats is replaced with the Catholic system...<<<
Everything in the New covenant was pre-figured in the Old testament.
In light of the Catholic system consider also Jesus’ standard where hatred = murder and lust = adultery. Are people so blind as to not see how at any given time the vast majority of Catholics would be unsaved under their own standard?
>>>at any given time the vast majority of Catholics would be unsaved under their own standard?<<<
The Gate is indeed narrow - a vast majority of humanity (regardless of religious beliefs) will be unsaved.
So I sayeth unto thee, heed my warnings, repent all ye sinners, and sinneth no more!
This concludes today’s sermon...
I am critical and cynical.
You must be one of them darned Berean type folks.
They don't get much praise on FR.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
The Bible is a wonderful book:
1 John 5:13
Nope; just the ONLY one to even dare to post on FR very often.
Resty was my favorite.
Confused, but very faithful in what she believed.
Never able to post a good counter-argument; but tried; as best she was able.
My favorite semi-active one is Normandy.
You'd not know him to be Mormon other than he says so; occasionally.
Never mentions Mormonism, but good about using all the orthodox Christian buzzwords and platitudes.
I try to always make the comment; "Why are you Mormon?"
That usually cues the crickets.
ST; however; is a PROUD Mormon.
Won't reveal whether he is a 15% or an 85% Mormon.
(For you lesser knowledgable folks; an 85 percenter is going to spend eternity with the likes of ME in the 2nd level of Mormon 'heaven'.
The 15 percent group are good ol' TR holding; full tithe paying folks.
Usually BIC or even better descendants of the early Mormons.
You’re gonna be such a thorn in the Telestial ...
It is a means to control the membership, because you have never done enough. Ask yourself why Jesus repeatedly told us he paid the total price? That truth will set you free from the Deacon or Cardinal or Pope, nothing else will because they will never let you pay off the works bill they claim you owe. >p> Jesus said, if you love me keep my commandments. And He even made them simple by condensing them into two commandments.
The question will always be how many works are enough, if works are what save you, but they aren't.
Likewise...
The OTHER question will always be: How many works are enough? (if works are what KEEP you)
Because He said so For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew, Catholic chapter twenty five, Protestant verses fourteen to thirty,
as authorized, but not authored, by King James
Works will give you satisfaction and make you a better person, but they will never, never save you. Salvation is a Free Gift of God and that not of yourselves, lest any man should boast.
They MUST do works.
They MUST follow the RULES set in place by their own chosen religion or denomination.
Is it REALLY that hard to detect the UNBELIEF in this 'servant'?
He that believes on him is not condemned:
but he that believes not is condemned already,
because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:18
So does the Spiritual Man...
That is disputable and has been.
That usually means money.
