By the way folks, I am not sure how people define "being your own pope," but my definition of being my own pope, simply means I read the scriptures for myself, and don't let any flunky dudes interpret it for me.
I don't establish my own rules, like members of OTCs think. God established the plan of salvation, by grace through FAITH ALONE. Maybe that doesn't sit well with OTCers, so be it. They must struggle with trying to establish their own righteousness, and must try to bluff their way into Heaven. It's entirely possible they are in for the biggest shock of their existence. Does weeping and gnashing of teeth sound familiar?
On the other hand, being my own pope, allows me the freedom to decide on which day of the week I wish to attend services. I am free to think pre, mid or post tribulation. It allows me to discern the signs of the times.
It does not allow me to change faith and morals, like some OTCers think. In other words, murder is still murder. I am my own pope, but issue like that, never change.
I think born from above Christians understand. Others, not so much, but that's on them.
Maybe we could declare a new holiday, called "be your own pope day." How does that grab you? 😇😜

I don’t make up my own rules as I go either.

God st His up, told us in Scripture where they are, and expects us to follow them ourselves.

We follow them from the inward, the heart, not for force of compulsion with our eternal destiny dangled over our heads as a threat for not complying to the rules of men.
