Mexican Archdiocese Claims Pope Was Misinformed

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexico's main archdiocese has taken the unusual step of publicly saying Pope Francis had been badly advised when directed harsh words to local bishops during his visit in mid-February.

The pope told a gathering of local bishops in February not to be career-minded clerics, saying, "We do not need 'princes,' but rather a community of the Lord's witnesses."

The pope also urged them to maintain unity and show more transparency. "If you have to fight, fight. If you have to say things, say them, but do it like men: to the face," Francis told the bishops.

An editorial published Sunday on a website of the archdiocese of Mexico City said that some of the pope's comments had been misinterpreted by "reporters more focused on histrionics than the deep meaning of the words."

"The Mexican bishops have been accompanying the suffering, downtrodden people, devoting their lives to others and not living like 'princes,'" the editorial said.

It denies local bishops were out of touch with the people, and says the pope's comments "might be due to someone near him who gave him bad advice."

The editorial ends with the question: "Who gave the pope bad advice?"

This Pope is a CATASTROPHE - for the Catholic Church, for Christianity, for America and for western civilization.

Every sentence uttered by this Pope ends up being ‘clarified or corrected’ before much time passes. Moreso than any other Pope in my memory. Makes you wonder how much of this ambiguity is accidental or purposely done to promote people hearing what they want to hear.

You know if the pope had a wife, a couple of sharp elbows in the side probably would be helpful to be more careful with his words....

I know my wife has that -—look-— when it’s time for me to shut up...

Sounds like some bishops need humility. They complain about the pope AFTER he leaves and to the press, instead of face to face....just like freepers!!!!!!!!

Sounds like some bishops need humility.

Yes, especially the current bishop of Rome, who earlier, as Archbishop of Buenos Aries, criticized Pope Benedict's Regensburg address; but not to Pope Benedict's face, of course.

No, he brooks no argument, and actually it’s pretty bold of them even to say anything now. He’s had bishops removed from their sees and humiliated for objecting to his words or actions.

That’s the left for you.

Every single time he opens his mouth. Best he stays cloistered in the Vatican and take a vow of silence. Only let him out of his chambers to wave from the balcony. That’s it. Nothing more.

Who knew *what* the Pope was saying, anyway, until after he left?

His near every utterance is an insult to either priests and bishops, or to the faith itself, requiring an army of Vatican clerics to review it, restate it, correct it, and distribute the clarifications galore.

Enough already. The Pope doesn’t seem to like the Church very much at all, is glad to be rid of Tradition, and thinks even less of the bishops. He should go be a Methodist, maybe.

This fake Pope serves the elites and their agenda of a one world government with very little freedom for the individual.

He was brought to power by a leftist cabal in the Vatican. We know that now. The same cabal that forced the old pope out. We know that now also.

This commie can take his global warming BS and cram it in his miter.

I miss JP2 !
