Pro-life and abortion activists alike gathered outside the U.S. Supreme Court building today awaiting the hearing on an important abortion case out of Texas.
The U.S. Supreme Court case Whole Womans Health v. Hellerstedt was bought by abortion businesses against a pro-life Texas law responsible for closing abortion clinics that could not guarantee they could protect the health of Texas women. The law has been credited with saving the lives of more than 10,000 unborn children.
Among the pro-abortion speakers was the Rev. Debra Haffner, a Jewish Unitarian Universalist who preached in favor of abortion in front of the Supreme Court Building. Haffner is a former Planned Parenthood medical director and a pal of pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
She tweeted this morning:

Another abortion advocate claimed Haffners voice was one of the loudest in the crowd:
Its interesting that Haffner referred to abortion as a moral decision because polling consistently shows that a majority of Americans believe abortion is morally wrong.
The stakes are high in the case. If the Supreme Court rules with abortion activists, common sense laws such as parental consent for minors and abortion clinic regulations could be wiped out, and full-fledged taxpayer funded abortions and partial-birth abortions could become common. Most Americans do not want to see these things come about, but these are the things abortion activists like Haffner are fighting for.
Is she also a Pastafarian?

Never heard of the Commandments?
“Thou shalt not kill.”
Don’t ask me! I’m still trying to figure out what a “Jewish Unitarian Universalist” is. Gold Star to the first FReeper who can tell me!
Oh boy another ‘big’ case out of Texas...
Well, which is she? Jewish or Unitarian Universalist? I suppose technically she could be "ethnically" Jewish, but there's no way she practice Judaism and be a Unitarian Universalist.
“Well, which is she? Jewish or Unitarian Universalist?”
I wonder if she knows.
My understanding is that pretty much anything goes in the unitarian universalist church. It’s like a melting pot of religions. You can mix and match and make up whatever you want. I went to a funeral last year at one of those. It was a mixed bag for sure.
That said, anyone who says abortion is not a sin is suppressing the truth in unrighteousness.
It’s a moral decision? And murder is not a sin either but just a moral decision too where the situational ethics are just a bit more nuanced. Sheesh..!
A “moral decision” that does not abide by the Word of God (e.g., “Thou Shalt Not Kill”) IS sin...
Seems to me to be a little like Jeremiah Wright being a “former” Muslim. The “former” beliefs spew out in place of anything Christian.
Especially when that reads “Thou shalt not murder” in Hebrew.
How dare you try to define me!!!
Yes, good clarification.
15 years ago, I was in China on a project with a bunch of Americans working on a project. We had some down-time with the local Chinese staff. The subject of religion came up, and when one of the Americans claimed to be a Unitarian Universalist, the Chinese asked - "what it that?" The UU presented a her "belief statement" on a card. A Chinese man read it, wrinkled his brow, scratched his head and said, like he was being played for a fool: "This isn't a religion, its a Nike advertisement!"
may God have mercy....
This “Rev” holds her flock to a lower standard. Sin without guilt probably appeals to many who don’t want to be burdened with judgement.
If abortion is not a sin, why would it be a moral decision?
Jewish Unitarian Universalist
