I'm sorry you don't like the Greek behind the text in John regarding the passage in question. I'm coming to see a lot of catholics don't like the Greek as it contradicts much of catholic teaching on Mary and other topics. And that's the real issue in play. As I said before, the context of the passage will answer your question(s).

I think the real issue in play is that you have an antiCatholic bias and are not consistent in your approach to interpreting the scriptures. Be consistent in how you approach the scriptures and allow the same in others that do not share your tradition.

The problem is that roman catholicism has invested so much effort in dogmatizing Mary that there is no way the rcc could ever admit its error on this.

It would lose too much face and too much money.

It would wreck the rcc.

I KNOW the real issue in play is that many FR Catholics have an anti-Protestant bias and are not consistent in their approach to admitting how Catholics of old interpreted the scriptures.
