God Bless America
While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that s free.
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer:
God bless America, land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God bless America,
My home sweet home.
The Star-Spangled Banner
O say can you see, by the dawn s early light,
What so proudly we hail d at the twilight s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O er the ramparts we watch d were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there,
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Vs. 4:
O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
Between their lov d home and the war s desolation!
Blest with vict ry and peace may the heav n rescued land
Praise the power that hath made and preserv d us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto - In God is our trust,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Please join our forefathers in songs of petition and praise to our God for our Nation.
Thank you.
Really wish more would sing that fourth verse at public events.
Look up the circumstances under which God Bless America was written. Quite a story.
When Columbus landed he claimed in one journal that his me. Fell on knees on shore and sang The Dem.
The first book published in the new world was the Massachusetts Psalm book. On page 100 was a song using a loose translation of that song.
For years it was known as old hundred. We sing it today as the Doxology
First song sung. First song published. Still in our hearts
Praise God...
Amen.
I love those songs.
I love “America The Beautiful” too! (”God shed His Grace on thee!”)
Amen.
Amen.
Joining you in Prayer and Praise, Dearest Sister Hiskid.
Thanksgiving for your Anointed Prayer Ministry.
Amen.
