"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all" (2 Corinthians 13:14).
Though there is only one God, He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
God is one, but He exists in three distinct Persons. We call this the Trinity, a contraction of "tri-unity," meaning "three in one." The word Trinity doesn't appear in the Bible, but God's existence as three Persons in one God is clear from Scripture.
Old Testament evidence of God's plurality can be found in the very first verse: "In the beginning God . . ." (Gen. 1:1). The Hebrew word used for God is Elohim, which is a plural noun. Isaiah 42:1 speaks of the Messiah: "Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My chosen one in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations." The Messiah says in Isaiah 48:16, "The Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit."
The New Testament is more explicit about God's triune nature. After Jesus' baptism, the Spirit of God descended upon Him as a dove, and the Father said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased" (Matt. 3:17). The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are together in the same scene.
Jesus says, "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth" (John 14:16-17). Paul closes 2 Corinthians by saying, "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all" (13:14). Peter declares that believers are chosen "according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 1:2).
So God is one, but God is three. This is a profound mystery that no human illustration can adequately describe and no scientific explanation can prove. The Trinity is something we have to take on faith, because God has taught it in Scripture.
Suggestions for Prayer
Praise God that He is so far above our finite understanding, yet has chosen to reveal Himself to us.
For Further Study
Read John 14-16.
What does Jesus teach about His relationship with the Father and the Spirit? What do you learn here about the different functions or ministries of each member of the Trinity?
Read John 17
A post you might want to read and absorb, FRiend.
I would add in Romans 16:17-18 with John 17 and I think you can take it from there.
Can’t you just answer the question. It is a simple yes or now question. Do YOU believe that your salvation is in jeopardy if you don’t have a belief on the specific days of the week on which Jesus died and was buried? Yes or no. I don’t want to play games. I just asked a simple question. Is your life that boring?
Oh??
1 John 5:7 KJV
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
This must be part of what the Mormons claim to be mis-interpreted.
And...
...knowledge of the book that Rome assembled for us to learn from; too.
good luck
But one would think that Salt Lake City can get their OWN 'scripture' to agree...
Trinity: found in the Book of MORMON ----------- rejected in the Doctrines and Covenants
Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God? And he answered, No. (Alma 11:28-29) ...and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil. (Alma 11:44) ...doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen. (2 Nephi 31:21) ...praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end. (Mormon 7:7) ...power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son--And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth. And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, (Mosiah 15:3-5) ...of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them. (Ether 2:8) According to that which was ordained in the midst of the Council of the Eternal God of all other gods before this world was, that should be reserved unto the finishing and the end thereof, when every man shall enter into his eternal presence and into his immortal rest. (Section 121:32) And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife, and make a covenant with her for time and for all eternity, if that covenant is not by me or by my word, which is my law, and is not sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, through him whom I have anointed and appointed unto this power, then it is not valid neither of force when they are out of the world, because they are not joined by me, saith the Lord, neither by my word; when they are out of the world it cannot be received there, because the angels and the gods are appointed there, by whom they cannot pass; they cannot, therefore, inherit my glory; for my house is a house of order, saith the Lord God. And again, verily I say unto you, if a man marry a wife by my word, which is my law, and by the new and everlasting covenant, and it is sealed unto them by the Holy Spirit of promise, by him who is anointed, unto whom I have appointed this power and the keys of this priesthood; and it shall be said unto them--Ye shall come forth in the first resurrection; and if it be after the first resurrection, in the next resurrection; and shall inherit thrones, kingdoms, principalities, and powers, dominions, all heights and depths--then shall it be written in the Lamb's Book of Life, that he shall commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, and if ye abide in my covenant, and commit no murder whereby to shed innocent blood, it shall be done unto them in all things whatsoever my servant hath put upon them, in time, and through all eternity; and shall be of full force when they are out of the world; and they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the seeds forever and ever. Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them. (Section 132:18-20) Abraham received concubines, and they bore him children; and it was accounted unto him for righteousness, because they were given unto him, and he abode in my law; as Isaac also and Jacob did none other things than that which they were commanded; and because they did none other things than that which they were commanded, they have entered into their exaltation, according to the promises, and sit upon thrones, and are not angels but are gods. (Section 132:37)
"Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are. I was with the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father, and the Father in me; and in me hath the Father glorified his name." (3 Nephi 9:15)
"And again the Lord called others, and said unto them likewise; and he gave unto them power to baptize. And he said unto them: On this wise shall ye baptize; and there shall be no disputations among you. Verily I say unto you, that whoso repenteth of his sins through your words and desireth to be baptized in my name, on this wise shall ye baptize them--Behold, ye shall go down and stand in the water, and in my name shall ye baptize them. And now behold, these are the words which ye shall say, calling them by name, saying: Having authority given me of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. And then shall ye immerse them in the water, and come forth again out of the water. And after this manner shall ye baptize in my name; for behold, verily I say unto you, that the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one; and I am in the Father, and the Father in me, and the Father and I are one...And thus will the Father bear record of me, and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me; for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one." (3 Nephi 11:22-27, 36)
Day 2: Thursday (5th day of the week) evening at sunset to Friday evening at sunset.
Day 3: Friday (6th day of the week) evening at sunset to Saturday evening at sunset.
Our Lord could have risen at any time after sunset on Saturday (7th day of the week). When the women went to the sepulcher EARLY on the first day of the week, Christ was ALREADY risen. There is no Scriptural necessity for Him to have had to wait until sunrise.
Pinning down an RC is like nailing jello to a wall.
They'll tell you all day long that you're a heretic and going to hell, and yet when you try to pin them down with simple yes or no questions about what it exactly is that one has to believe to get to heaven, you'll NEVER get a straight answer.
LOL... so very true... :)
There is no salvation outside of Jesus Christ.
The Church is the Body of Christ.
If someone believes that Jesus died on Wednesday as a private belief without leaving the Church or causing dissension, they are still in Christ.
If someone rejects the Church and the Faith she has been commissioned by Jesus to teach, well, see the first two sentences above.
Most people I have seen who believe this Wednesday nonsense are Sabbath keepers or Hebrew roots people. Both false cults.
***Our Lord could have risen at any time after sunset on Saturday (7th day of the week). When the women went to the sepulcher EARLY on the first day of the week, Christ was ALREADY risen. There is no Scriptural necessity for Him to have had to wait until sunrise.***
Yes, He didn’t have to wait until sunrise, and in my post, I didn’t say that He did, only that the Resurrection happened after sunset on Saturday. “Day 3 was from sundown on Saturday through sundown on Sunday, the day he arose from the dead.”
Your day 1 through day 3 are your interpretation of it. I don’t see it your way, but I’m not a scholar on the issue.
It is you who is too kind!
I will start with the 30 because all it takes is an understanding of any calendar..and it is just a natural count. I hope I don’t take tangents but add in pieces that may make sense with the New Testament accounts. And some foundation of His Calendar at the same time. But baby steps I hope...
And it starts with the very first Passover with Israel in Egypt..
Exodus 12:6
They were to keep the Lamb until the 14th Day (of the beginning of months- which is month #1)
They were then to kill it, in the evening. (Of the 14th)
That word ‘evening’ there can be found in Genesis 1:5 as well as other places- it is the word Ereb- strongs 6153.
As in, there was ‘evening ‘ and morning the 1st,2nd 3rd, etc day in Genesis account of Creation. (It isnt a minor thing though, it helps understanding His timing)
That word translated as evening in the English, can mean ‘twilight’ and ‘fading of the day’.
So, they were to slay the Lamb at ‘twilight’/dusk. (Which isn’t what was going to happen in the New Testament, unless the Father sent the supernatural Darkness for the time our Savior was on the cross!
We can know why it was dark at the Crucifixion. And it goes back to the Exodus. And it was to fulfill Him as the Lamb..
They were to place the blood of the Lamb on the door posts and consume it that ‘night’.
The night of the 14th. (He was buried that night)
The final plague of the first born came that same night, at midnight(14th)
The next day(15th day of month #1), they began their journey out of Egypt.
Exodus 16
They arrive on their Exodus to the wilderness of sin, which is between elim and Sinai, on the 15th Day of month #2 after they had departed from the land of Egypt- And camped.
The Word says all of Israel was assembled on that day, and murmured against Moses and Aaron of hunger.
Exodus 16:4 Moses is told that the Father will rain Bread from Heaven for them. A portion every day for 6 days.
In Exodus 16:6 He says at evening (twilight/fading of day/dusk) of the day (15th day), He will send ‘flesh’/quail.
And He will send Bread in the ‘morning’
Exodus 16:13 - when it became ‘twilight’/ dusk of the 15th day, He sent the quail.
And the next morning (16th day) He sent the first manna from heaven..for 6 mornings, and a double portion on the 6th day,so that no one would need to search for it on His 7th Day Sabbath..
So to keep count:
15th Day of month#1 when they began their journey out of Egypt, after being delivered by the blood of the Lamb, to 15th Day of month #2 when they camped in the wilderness of sin and murmurred about hunger:
30 days
After 30 days from being delivered by the blood of the Lamb, He fed them manna from Heaven. The Bread of Life.
That is the 1st Kingdom fold, those who know they have been delivered by His blood and consume the Bread of Life.
Major events happened to Israel after 60 days and 100 days too!
A Calendar application if I may:
One major thing happens on the 16th Day of month #2.
The first manna.
Them camping/assembling and speaking with or listening to God on the 15th Day of month #2 is significant. It is a picture of what His Sabbath is-
A day to camp, rest, and be with Him-
And He ‘rested’ too, until evening/’twilight’ of the 15th day, and then sent quail in..
Then the morning of the:
16th-manna-1st Work Day
17th- 2nd Work Day
18th- 3rd Work Day
19th- 4th Work Day
20th- 5th Work Day
21st- 6th and Final Work Day(double manna)
22nd Day- 7th Day Sabbath!
Are there any 7th Day?
Yes, the Feast of Tabernacles (last Fall Feast- Leviticus 23:33-39) where the Feast begins on the ‘15th’ Day of month #7
And goes for 7 days (incuding the 15th Day).
And then there is an ‘8’th Day, which is Day 22
15-21 is 7 days.15-22 is 8 days!
1st Day of Feast(15th) was to be solemn rest and the 8th day (22nd) is to be solemn rest.
He changes not! He taught them with His Manna, not only feeding them but teaching them His Calendar!
Their first Sabbath in the wilderness is on the 22nd Day of His 2nd month and their last Sabbath is on the 22nd Day of His 7th month.
That only works with 1+6+1 shown to Ezekiel!
That is why Christianity would be blessed to know ‘Passover’ the 14th Day isn’t just any day.
It represents the last Work Day of the 2md Week in the Father’s month.
The Father finished His Work on the 6th Day. (Though scripture says 7th)
And so did the Son finish His Work on the 6th Day(though Scripture says 14th)
It is the template of 1+6+1 that would unlock real Truth of why Israel was taught to do what they were taught to do..
And why Judaism and Christianity never get to the 60 or the 100 - because they don’t count right (poor english, but you get the drift :))
We would be spiritually blessed to know what happened after 60 and then 40 days later when Moses comes down the mount but it is missed. And how it relates to what the King of Kings says in His 3 1/2 years here makes it even more clear. Like blinders coming off.. The Kingdom may have been more understood then than it is now. Also prophetic if we are looking for a falling away..
I will leave it there and please let me know if anything doesn’t jive!
It is a lot to digest..
Well if this was aimed at the Jews then yes.
Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other menâextortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.
Luk 18:12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess
There's nothing in scripture that mandates fasting twice a week but among the pharisee's it was apparently a test of piety. So Romans 14 could be referring to this. In addition it could be referring to purchasing meat in the meat market that had been sacrificed to idols...a concern in the early Christian church. The "days" referred to might have been the days that meat was sacrificed to idols and put out in the meat markets to be sold afterwards.
I love what Paul loved!
Rom 7:12 Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.
It's my contention based upon scripture that the holy spirit is the spirit of God and not a separate person in a trinity. Scripture shows clearly that the Godhead is composed of the father and the Christ. John 1 shows this the most clearly. It describes what God is composed of:
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
God the father and the Word. No other divine personage is making up "God"...at least until man decided to throw in their own theory over 300 years after the death of Christ.
Or you don't know what Paul was talking about or teaching. You're looking at it through a prism of your modern beliefs.
WOW. I didn’t dream of such a wonderful response, Delchiante. You went above and beyond. Your post is great!
Have you ever read something about God’s word that for some reason brought tears of happiness to your eyes just for reading it? Well, this post did for me. I don’t understand everything you wrote yet and it will take me a while to absorb, because I am terribly slow and none too bright. I do my learning the old fashioned way: No. 2 pencil with a good eraser and notebook paper. LOL. It’s just what works for me to absorb something and, particularly, anything to do with numbers. There are piles of notebooks that I have with tons of Bible study notes to help make things clear to myself that others probably understand immediately. I’ll need to get some new ones, I see. :-)
I started learning Hebrew and am at the point where I understood your ereb. I can read and write it - very slowly, that is - but my word bank account is very low. Now, I reckon I need to get the real deal calendar time (as God intended) and slowly go through to learn what time is truly, and then plug in your great information to fit. Too, I need to go back and force myself to learn the Mazzeroth. I’ve started it many times, but never finished. I realize how important it is to understanding so much in Scripture.
Now I completely understand what you meant about charts in your previous post. (I’m so excited to get the great response that I’m not sure I’m even making any sense. Forgive me if this post comes out all jumbled. I’m eager to get started and there’s a visitor...)
God always comes through. Praise be to Him in the highest and many thanks be to you, Delchiante! And know that not one letter of what you take the time to type will be taken for granted. Not one single letter will be wasted. I appreciate it so very much. Forever indebted,
SC
Warms my heart SC!
I know zero Hebrew to write it or read it so that is a blessing you have.
And my first ‘calendars’ are full of stumbling and bumbling. Trying to make sense. In fact, this has only been the last 4 years. Feel like I am in school getting an education.
You mention the Mazzaroth and I am really ignorant of it. No studying of it. All I wanted to do was to see what happened in His Sky when Israel was to observe His Feasts and a lightbulb came on..and it really is hard for anyone to deny the Son or the New Testament if they read it and then learn it is above their heads in the Spring and Fall today.
How do you study Hebrew? Is it an application or a book or something else?
Ps- I have never been a member of any church- and when I tried a couple years ago to become a member of a church, He stopped me-didnt know why then- now, it makes all the sense in the world.
this is non denominational. There may be some groups, denominations who could see this ‘better’ or ‘quicker’ but it helps not being conformed to the world and letting His Word and His Creation be our guide! And the world is not set up to see it.
May He bless you more than He has me!
To the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen!
