This video answers many of the questions posted here regarding the Shroud of Turin.

"SHROUD A NEW ASTONISHING PHENOMENON DISCOVERED IN THIS FIND"
Published on Jun 28, 2015
Photogrammetric restitution on the Shroud of Turin has revealed a previously unknown phenomenon that opens up new horizons for science.
The strength of this discovery is stressed by the fact that the geometrical data used for restitution can be verified with tools that are accessible to everyone.
Back in the 80s, a number of labs did some carbon dating on some small amounts of the shroud material and the consensus was that it was dated to the 1300s more or less. They apparently have also done some DNA testing which showed that it had been touched a gazillion times. What I did not see was whether any DNA testing had ever been done on the dried blood....
What’s Trump tower with Cruz by his side doing there?
It seems clear that the Shroud entices a reaction from every group.
The story within the story is that the “Resurrection” occurred from within the body of Jesus and as it occurred the image on the shroud picked up these changes altering the perspective captured in the cloth. Thus the one hand seemingly being longer than the other (and not what would normally be expected). The “double/triple/quadruple exposure” of some of the highlighted artifacts included on and around the body and the movement of the artifacts is evidence of the first (primitive photo like) capture of God’s Resurrection.
Issues with how the body was placed, items described/depicted are non sequitur to the Resurrection.
In at least one other study of the Shroud and how it explained the Resurrection; the author described what took place in the tomb as an event horizon.
What the video does (in my opinion) is attempt to use a different approach using modern forensic type techniques to describe what took place in the tomb when God’s miracle of life filled Christ’s dead body 3 days after His passing.
“In keeping with my practice of allowing everybody their opportunity to explain their ideas without prejudice”
That’s a laugh.
You couldn’t be more antagonistic.
Perhaps you missed the point of the video?
LOL
Talk about IRRELEVANT carping.

The tested swatches were taken from a repaired corner.
They were tested and came back 14th century.
See video...
The screwed up “carbon dating” was done on a piece of new cloth added on the edge of the shroud after it was burned in a fire.
Why did you leave that fact out?
The labs were supposed to do micro-chemical tests on the sample to make sure it was representative of the entire cloth. They didnât do that.
We had to wait 17 years for Ray Rogers, a retired Fellow with the Los Alamos Scientific laboratory and lead chemist for the original Shroud project in 1978, to do the micro-chemical tests the carbon labs were supposed to do in the first place. Published recently (January 20, 2005) in a peer reviewed scientific journal, ThermoChimica Acta, is an article containing the results of his analysis.
The key findings are as follows:
The radiocarbon sample that was used to date the Shroud has a very different composition and structure than the rest of the cloth and was not valid for dating the Shroud.
The sample used for carbon dating had been dyed with Madder root dye and applied to the surface in a plant-gum medium. This was to hide the repair (probably done in 1534). This dye and gum mixture does not exist anywhere else on the cloth.
The flax portion of the carbon sample had been bleached by a different method than the Shroud showing that the threads were manufactured at different times and not part of the original cloth.
The carbon dating sample also contained a significant amount of cotton. The cotton was woven in with the flax in the repaired area to help the dye adhere better. There is no cotton in the main body of the Shroud.
Linen (flax) contains a natural polymer called vanillin. Vanillin decays over time. Most medieval linen still contains a portion of the original vanillin whereas the vanillin content of the Dead Sea Scroll wrappings is completely depleted. The area cut for carbon dating still contains 37% of its original vanillin whereas 0% remains in samples taken from the main body of the Shroud.
All combined, it indicates that the carbon labs dated a rewoven area of the cloth. It also shows that the Shroud is significantly older than 700 years. Dr. Ray Rogers can only offer a date range of 1,300 to 3,000 years old because the rate of vanillin decay depends on storage temperature, something that is not known. But now, the Shroud being 2,000 years old doesnât seem out of the question anymore.

There are many references in the Bible of God/Angels appearing in such brightness, it hurt the eyes and people hide their eyes. Mosses came back down the mountain, after conversing with God, with a sunburned face, IIRC.
Whatever process created the image on the shroud of Turin, it isn't understand even today. It may somehow be related to this radiant brightness described in the Bible, IMO.
And while scientists and academia think the world around us and how it works is pretty much understood, in reality very little is understood. Even the most studied force in nature, the electromagnetic force, we really don't have a clue about what causes the repulsion/attraction or any number of its myriad characteristics and properties.
“Back in the 80s, a number of labs did some carbon dating on some small amounts of the shroud material and the consensus was that it was dated to the 1300s more or less...”
Several valid arguments concerning the “carbon dating”
As is now and probably always will be, a question of faith.
It’s a question of science.
See post 30.

You got me. The history seems more legendary.
One story is that Veronica brought it to Rome and used it to cure the Emperor Tiberius of some disease. It was stored in old St Peter’s Basilica during the papacy of Pope John VII, 705-708, in the Veronica Chapel. In 1199 two pilgrims in Rome record seeing it.
You may be thinking of the Mandylion, or Image of Edessa which is associated with the shroud. Although it was recovered from Edessa rather than Antioch.
There are several other shrouds floating around as well. Hard to know.
