Never having run afoul of the UCMJ I have no first hand experience in such matters.However I think I’ve read that certain court-martial cases can be reviewed by SCOTUS (and,perhaps,other Federal “civilian†courts).If I’m correct in that belief this case seems *perfect* for such a review if the military courts rule against the accused.

This should scare the heck out of everybody. They’re trying to say that unless something is the very core of your prescribed belief system it is not protected religious liberty. Christianity doesn’t say you have to believe that “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” so you don’t have any legal protection if you want to do it.
This is EXACTLY what religious leaders were concerned about, with the wording of SCOTUS’ “gay marriage” decision. The military courts are making clear that the regime considers there to be a legal distinction between the freedom to follow A religion - do the things prescribed by that religion - and the freedom to live your LIFE according to your religion. IOW, religion is an institution that you can be associated with, but religion has nothing to do with your everyday life. What you wear, what you think, what you do, is only protected religious liberty if the religious doctrine mandates it.
IOW, only Muslims are free to live their lives according to their religion, because only Islam mandates all that stuff.

In this case, I side with the military. The military is not a business, and unit cohesion is critical. Openly pushing religious views and/or political views in the office is unacceptable. What one does at lunch or at home is their business. What they did while sitting at a desk in the office was MY business.
You give up rights when you enter the military. The needs of the military trump personal rights. Anyone who doesn’t like it can get out.
