Meanwhile a Presidential Candidate sold access to the White House through a money laundering fund and used an unsecured server, and lied the all the American people. What a country. Maybe Putin is correct, Russia is now the moral country of the free world

If it was a verse from the Quran it would be OK.

This is ridiculous since others were permitted to post various personal paraphernalia at their work stations.

It is viewpoint discrimination.

It pretends America is not majority Christian.

It pretends there are not Christians in the military with their own viewpoint.

It far overreaches when it suggests that moral and discipline would be injured by someone having a bible verse at their personal work station.

These people are supposed to be able to fully function in a war setting in different cultures around the world. A bible verse is going to crash their morale? It’s just a ridiculous comment.

Never having run afoul of the UCMJ I have no first hand experience in such matters. However I think I’ve read that certain court-martial cases can be reviewed by SCOTUS (and, perhaps, other Federal “civilian” courts). If I’m correct in that belief this case seems *perfect* for such a review if the military courts rule against the accused.

She received a Bad Conduct Discharge and is ineligible for VA benefits. Also makes it tough to get a job when employers see BCD on the Form DD 214; she currently is unemployed.

Under B. Hussein Soebarkah, atheists and sodomites now rule the military.

When her immediate supervisor - Staff Sergeant Alexander - saw the verses, she ordered Sterling to remove them, saying that she did not like the tone.

Code for atheist lesbian.

the U.S. Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals sided against Sterling, saying that significant damage could be caused by forcing military employees to work in the presence of a religious quotation.

Wait.. what? You mean we are turning our such whiney spineless troops that a Bible verse can cause them significant damage? Hope none of them are ever sent into combat

Morality in the Army and Navy

Congress was apprehensive about the moral condition of the American army and navy and took steps to see that Christian morality prevailed in both organizations. In the Articles of War, seen below, governing the conduct of the Continental Army (adopted, June 30, 1775; revised, September 20, 1776), Congress devoted three of the four articles in the first section to the religious nurture of the troops. Article 2 "earnestly recommended to all officers and soldiers to attend divine services." Punishment was prescribed for those who behaved "indecently or irreverently" in churches, including courts-martial, fines and imprisonments. Chaplains who deserted their troops were to be court-martialed.

We were trained in reflection of Gen. George Washington’s July 9,1776 General ORder— to so live and act as becomes a Christian soldier— Guess the leadership today has forgotten —or choose to remain ignorant of where we came from -who we are. I thank God Almighty that I am not on active duty in todays godless -sic Secular and queer Military.

Isaiah 54

16 Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals, and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy;
17 no weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, says the LORD.”

This should scare the heck out of everybody. They’re trying to say that unless something is the very core of your prescribed belief system it is not protected religious liberty. Christianity doesn’t say you have to believe that “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” so you don’t have any legal protection if you want to do it.

This is EXACTLY what religious leaders were concerned about, with the wording of SCOTUS’ “gay marriage” decision. The military courts are making clear that the regime considers there to be a legal distinction between the freedom to follow A religion - do the things prescribed by that religion - and the freedom to live your LIFE according to your religion. IOW, religion is an institution that you can be associated with, but religion has nothing to do with your everyday life. What you wear, what you think, what you do, is only protected religious liberty if the religious doctrine mandates it.

IOW, only Muslims are free to live their lives according to their religion, because only Islam mandates all that stuff.

The regime is instituting sharia. Make no mistake. We saw this coming and were called crazy for it.

Because just like universities, the military is supposed to be a, you know... safe space.

"It is not hard to imagine the divisive impact to good order and discipline that may result when a service member is compelled to work at a government desk festooned with religious quotations, especially if that service member does not share that religion."

If the mental discipline and calm of a soldier is so fragile that they can not maintain their thoughts in order because of exposure to a religious quotation with which they do not agree then they obviously should seek to find another profession because the profession of war is fraught with far greater exposures to far greater challenges to a calm and ordered mind.

Ms. Sterling’s staff sergeant demanded she remove the verse, but Ms. Sterling refused, saying she had the right to express her religious freedom.

The next day Ms. Sterling arrived to find the verses had been ripped down from her station. She put them up again. The cycle repeated until Ms. Sterling was court-martialed on Feb. 1, 2014.

She was convicted of disrespecting a superior commissioned officer, failing to go to an appointed place of duty, and disobeying a lawful order on four separate occasions ...

In this case, I side with the military. The military is not a business, and unit cohesion is critical. Openly pushing religious views and/or political views in the office is unacceptable. What one does at lunch or at home is their business. What they did while sitting at a desk in the office was MY business.

You give up rights when you enter the military. The needs of the military trump personal rights. Anyone who doesn’t like it can get out.
