Pun intended.

It’s been four months today since my dad was killed in a hit-and-run crash. He was cycling near his home on May 4 and was hit from behind by an intoxicated motorist (who was later apprehended). Dad was killed instantly. As I wrote a month after the crash, my dad was my rock, and our whole family is trying to pick up the pieces of our lives and figure out how to go on without him.

One of the things I learned is also the loss/lack of fear. I struggle to imagine a calamity worse than the one we've already experienced. I come up short.

You need Brain Surgery! meh . . .

Romans 8:28
Why am I still here when my boy is not? How is my life of nearly 60 years valued over that of a sixteen year old?

I do not know. Perhaps I will never know in this realm.
I do know this. I am no longer scared of a Goddamned thing.

I lost both of my parents in one year. . .Mom in January and Dad in December. They were my best friends. My grief was easier to bear because Christians say goodbye for only a little while.

My mother, who was very dear to me, was killed in a car crash.

Driver, probably mixing alcohol and cancer meds, her sister.

As each day went by, I counted how many since she was with us.

My faith carries me on. It took a long time to get over it.
