I was baptized as a baby but am no longer a Catholic no matter what the Catholic Church says, and if asked by some pollster to self identify I would never claim to be catholic.

No, you wouldn’t, but a lot of people, especially those who haven’t chosen some other church, would say they’re Catholic (even if they haven’t darkened the door of a church since the First Communion).
